Reshoots can be seen as a sign of trouble by those who follow the industry, even though in most cases it's pretty standard. Still, Dark Phoenix received a fair amount of attention when it was announced that reshoots were delaying the film by four months (originally), leading to rumors that not all was right with the Merry Mutants. Those claims were denied by production, but new rumors report that reshoots have ballooned the movie's budget to $200 million.
Dark Phoenix -- sometimes still called X-Men: Dark Phoenix -- was originally meant to have premiered in theaters by now. The film was slated to be released on November 2, 2018, but the movie was delayed to February 14, 2019. The reason was due to routine reshoots that the studio wanted to schedule, but none of the necessary cast was available until August or September 2018, which wouldn't leave enough time to complete the visual effects.
However, the film was again pushed back -- this time to June 7 -- again because of visual effects. 2019. This was done pretty much right after the release of the first trailer, so it wasn't a good look for the blockbuster.
Now rumors are circulating that these reshoots have caused the budget to expand to a pricey $200 million. This rumor appears to come from Observer, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. The site doesn't list a source or further elaboration.
It's unclear at the moment if Dark Phoenix is having any problems, but there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the film right now. The future of this X-Men franchise is in question now that the rights are going to Disney and Marvel. There hasn't been any confirmation that Marvel will keep the current cast and continuity (I'd be really surprised if they did), and there is the option that they will reboot once the rights have officially exchanged.
If that ends up the case, then that makes Dark Phoenix the finale for this franchise, which it may not have planned to be when it first started filming. On top of all of that, the film has to win back critics and audiences after X-Men: Apocalypse underperformed. The days feel numbered for this series, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of enthusiasm for Dark Phoenix, but that could change once marketing kicks into gear.
