The Rock Wants Jason Momoa To Play His Brother In Fast And The Furious Franchise
What the future holds for the DC shared unvierse is too unclear at the moment, so it's unclear if we'll ever see the likes of Black Adam and Aquaman squaring off. But that doesn’t mean we won’t see The Rock and Jason Momoa sharing the screen together. The Rock actually wants Jason Momoa to play his brother in the Fast and Furious franchise. In fact, Dwayne Johnson has already tried to make it happen, as he explained:
The Rock and Jason Momoa were working to make a team-up happen for the newly titled Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Show (One title, two ampersands, how high octane is that?!) but it didn’t come together. Dwayne Johnson wanted Jason Momoa to play the brother to his character Luke Hobbs in the spinoff film, which definitely would have gotten action fans and cinephiles excited.
Unfortunately, Jason Momoa’s schedule was too packed, presumably with Aquaman duties, for him to be able to film for Hobbs & Shaw. It’s kind of funny to hear The Rock talk about someone else’s schedule being too full considering how impossibly busy he himself always seem to be. Although the two actors couldn’t make it work this time, The Rock is hopeful in his Instagram post that for the next Hobbs movie, they can make this team-up happen.
While we won’t see Jason Momoa as Luke Hobbs’ brother in Hobbs & Shaw, we will see the character’s family. The Rock’s initial comments about Momoa came after a fan asked about the Aquaman actor in a post showing the Hobbs family from the upcoming film. We had heard that this spinoff would feature members of both Hobbs and Shaw’s families, and that image featured Luke Hobbs and his four brothers.
The four brothers, played by Cliff Curtis, Josh Mauga, John Tui and Dwayne Johnson’s real-life cousin and WWE wrestler Roman Reigns (née Joseph Anoa’i) run a custom car shop in Western Samoa and are a very tight knit family.
We don’t yet know how exactly the Hobbs family fits into the plot of this film, but it’ll be interesting to see if there are any hints dropped in the film or at least some wiggle room to allow for a sixth Hobbs brother played by Jason Momoa to appear in a future film. Although maybe, if it comes to fruition, Jason Momoa would play a different role other than Hobbs' brother.
As far as future films go, The Rock sounds confident already that Hobbs & Shaw will be successful enough to spawn a sequel. The actor is very high on Hobbs & Shaw, and the way the film is allowing him to embrace and showcase his Samoan heritage. He's even gone so far as to call it the movie he’s been waiting for his entire career.

Jason Momoa is coming off of a massive win with Aquaman and there’s little doubt that he’ll be working on the sequel before too long. But hopefully he and The Rock can find someway to make it work for him to appear in the next Hobbs & Shaw film, because it would be awesome to see these two action stars onscreen together.
