Bill And Ted 3 Has Cast Its Villain
If you thought Bill Preston and Ted Logan’s latest cinematic adventure was going to be a piece of cake, you’d be mistaken. For Bill and Ted 3, a.k.a. Bill and Ted Face the Music, it’s been revealed that the individual who will pursue the lovable duo is being played by Gotham and Barry actor Anthony Carrigan.
The only details about Anthony Carrigan’s Bill and Ted Face the Music character in THR’s casting piece was that he’ll be the eponymous protagonists’ “relentless adversary,” so we’ll have to keep waiting for specific details on how he’ll cause trouble. Although Carrigan has a solid collection of TV credits, this will only be the third time he’s appeared in a theatrical movie, the previous ones being 2011’s The Undying and 2016’s Satanic.
Fortunately, Anthony Carrigan has plenty of experience playing antagonists, particularly on Gotham and Barry. In the former Fox series, he played Victor Zsasz, an assassin who served numerous crime lords and cut a tally onto his body for every person he killed, and on the latter HBO series, he plays NoHo Hank, who’s part of the Chechen mafia, but ironically is not an inherently violent person. Carrigan also had a two-episode stint on The Flash as Kyle Nimbus, a.k.a. The Mist.
Anthony Carrigan is the fourth new actor to join Bill and Ted Face the Music’s cast, preceded by Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving, who are playing Bill and Ted’s daughters, and Kid Cudi, whose role hasn’t been disclosed yet. Along with Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves obviously reprising Bill and Ted, respectively, William Sadler will be back as Death.
Behind the camera, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, who wrote the first two Bill and Ted movies together, resumed scripting duties for the threequel, and Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot is directing. Bill and Ted Face the Music’s story was actually put together back in 2010, but it took a long time for the project to obtain financing and distribution.
Picking up approximately three decades after we last saw Bill and Ted in Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, these two goofballs are now middle-aged and have families, but they still haven’t fulfilled their heroic destinies. They’ll finally be pushed to action when a visitor from the future arrives warning them that their song is the key to saving all life and bringing harmony to the universe.
For their latest adventure, Bill and Ted will be aided by their daughters, old friends, new historical figures and even a few music legends. However, Anthony Carrigan’s mysterious character will somehow try to interfere with Bill and Ted’s mission, and it’s possible he might not be alone.
