Are The Russo Brothers Teasing New Marvel Footage?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had one hell of a ride over the past couple of months, with Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home closing out the third phase of their franchise’s history. It’s been an emotional, surprising ride, and in the wake of Peter Parker’s recent adventures, the MCU is now perched at a point of mystery.
While it was previously speculated that Marvel Studios wouldn’t be at San Diego Comic-Con, it was then confirmed that the studio would indeed be making a presentation. That’s lead to quite an interesting turn, as while The Russo Brothers are done with their time in the MCU, they seem to be teasing new footage in the following, cryptic tweet:
The big clue that leads to this hypothesis is the fact that this tweet is made of two key components: text pointing to the date 7/19/19, and audio from a past Comic Con panel with The Russo Brothers.
In particular, it’s audio from their 2017 San Diego Comic Con, in which Joe Russo told the Hall H audience of that particular con that, “there’s no way in Hell that we are not going to show you some footage.” After praising the fandom as the best in the world, Avengers: Infinity War was announced, and the footage began.
Digging back into the recent past of Marvel Studios, one of the first things that pops up is that time that our own Sean O’Connell heard from Kevin Feige himself that the only reason Marvel would go to Hall H was when the studio has “a lot of stuff to talk about or reveal.”
Seeing as Kevin Feige then immediately said there was a lot to talk about, it was all but confirming that the studio would be showing up at the big room of the yearly celebration of fandom and its future. Though there is a bit of a caveat in that very same interview we just cited.
While San Diego Comic-Con is coming up, and there’s a chance that Marvel Studios will debut some sort of footage to tease anything from the now in production Black Widow prequel to a potential logo/team portrait of the Asguardians of the Galaxy, there is another chance for Marvel to show off their potential wares.

Disney’s proprietary D23 Expo is set to rock Anaheim in August, not too long after San Diego Comic Con. There might still be something of note during the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic Con, but the chances are that whatever is provided in San Diego will be a teaser for the bigger meal to come in Anaheim.
That being said, we all know that Marvel Studios, and The Russo Brothers, are masters of the tease. This most recent tweet from their official profile confirms that much, hands down. Whatever’s coming down the road it not only feels like it’ll be the first inklings towards Phase 4, but that material will more than likely be worth the wait.
San Diego Comic-Con gets off the ground next Thursday, but in the meantime, you true believers out there can see Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is currently in theaters.
If you’re still hungry for MCU excitement past point, you can always revisit Avengers: Endgame, which is still running as part of its re-release campaign to potentially break the all-time box office grossing record.
