Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Trailer Is Star-Studded And Definitely NSFW
If you’ve been waiting with baited breath to see what the return of writer/director Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob franchise would look like, a nice fat surprise just landed on your doorstep. With San Diego Comic-Con starting today, it would seem appropriate to see a trailer arrive for Smith’s promised reboot to his famed New Jersey based heroes.
That’s exactly what we have in our hands right now, as you can watch the first look at Jay And Silent Bob Reboot, below:
Picking up almost 20 years after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, we see Jason Mewes’ Jay and Kevin Smith’s Silent Bob on the road to Hollywood yet again. And just like that last voyage, they’re on the road to stop the Bluntman and Chronic series from being befouled by Hollywood’s greedy hands once again.
Though this film calls itself a reboot, and definitely follows that sort of template by treading that hallowed ground from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, the film feels more like what Hollywood likes to call a “legacyquel”. A key part of that designation is the fact that Shannon Elizabeth’s Justice is back in the picture for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and she has a surprise for Jay: their teenaged daughter, Millennium Vulcan, played by Harley Quinn Smith.
Surprise is an understatement when it comes to the trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, as there are tons of cameos, references, and expansions to the View Askewniverse that are taking place in just a short look at Kevin Smith’s triumphant return to his personally designed playground.
If you were wondering about those three Batman actors that Smith was promising in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, you see two of them right here with Val Kilmer playing Hollywood’s new Bluntman, and Ben Affleck returning to the role of Holden McNeil for the third time in his career.
Plus, we could be wrong, but it looks like Matt Damon might be back in the role of Loki, the villainous angel from Dogma. Or he could be dressed like that character, sitting in a church pew, and reading what looks like a Bible for a laugh. You decide, viewers.

Though circling back to the Bluntman and Chronic reboot, the new Chronic looks mighty familiar to those of you who watch The CW’s Supergirl, as Melissa Benoist is filling that vacancy in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Casting like that is all over this movie’s DNA, as Justice League’s Joe Manganiello and Avengers: Endgame’s Chris Hemsworth are also spotted in the field of surprise cast members.
Kevin Smith’s keen eye on pop culture is sharp as ever in this trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and he looks primed to take another stab at satirizing the Hollywood dream factory and its preoccupation with superheroes. At the same time, the story of Jay’s journey into fatherhood just might be a sign that the more emotional side of Smith’s filmmaking canon will shine through just as easily.
Whatever the case, the countdown is now officially on, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot will be in theaters on October 15th and 17th, as part of a limited run Fathom Event to release the film into the wild. You can buy tickets for those shows, as of today.
