New Batman Harvey Dent Casting Rumor Would Be Pretty Perfect
The DC live-action universe has had a fascinating life in theaters, and is showing no signs of slowing down. Warner Bros.' shared universe got off to a bumpy start, it seems to have found its stride with the successful releases of Shazam! and Aquaman. And there are some very exciting projects coming down the pipeline, one of the most highly anticipated is Matt Reeves' The Batman, which has been sitting in development hell for a number of years. And a new rumor indicates BlackKlansman star John David Washington might be up for the role of Harvey Dent.
John David Washington is an athlete-turned-actor, and the son of the great actor Denzel Washington. His role in BlackKlansman earned Washington a Golden Globe nomination last season, and the newest The Batman rumor claims that he may be playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face, joining Robert Pattinson's Batman in the mysterious new project.
Of course, it's important to note that this news is far from official, and should be taken with a grain of salt at this point. The rumor comes to us from The GWW, and is sure to get the myriad Batman fans out there excited about the still developing blockbuster. Robert Pattinson is officially onboard to play the title character in The Batman, but Matt Reeves and company haven't announced any of the other cast members joining the Twilight alum.
Fans are eager to see who will be filling out the cast, and which of Batman's rogues will eventually make it into The Batman. Early reports indicate that the noir-inspired movie might be filled with some of the character's biggest villains-- especially if the Dark Knight ends up venturing into Arkham Asylum and coming face to face with the criminally insane he put in there.
If John David Washington ends up nabbing the role of Harvey Dent in The Batman, it should be interesting to see which form of the character ends up making it to screen. Will he be a lawman within Gotham City, with the movie showing his dark origin story into villainy? Or will the character already be established, scarred, and going by the name of Two-Face? It's a mystery although Washington's star power should presumably grow quite a bit of the rumors come to fruition.

There are some big shoes to fill in regards to Two-Face, as there have been more than a few live-action adaptations of the character throughout the year. In addition to Harvey Dent's role in Gotham and Tommy Lee Jones' Batman Forever version, perhaps the most iconic Harvey Dent is from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. Played by Aaron Eckhart, the character's descent into criminal behavior and facial mutilation were shown in epic realism.
