The Russo Brothers Reveal What Type Of Heroes Could Bring Them Back To Marvel
The Russo Brothers have had a massively successful run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all starting with their first attempt at Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That movie is one of the most acclaimed installments in the MCU, and was followed up by Civil War, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Each movie has been a critical and box office success, with the Brothers doing the impossible by balancing a massive cast of characters. But there are a few heroes that might inspire them to return to the studio.
Following the massive success of Avengers: Endgame, Joe and Anthony Russo have officially completed their time within the MCU. But while they have no plans to direct another blockbuster within the shared universe, they haven't closed the door on returning sometime in the future. In fact, Joe Russo recently named a few characters that have always intrigued the brothers, as he put it:
Well, this is exciting. It looks like The Russo Brothers might be convinced to return to the MCU, given the right set of heroes to focus on. And he's mostly interested in those acquired by Disney during its acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
Joe Russo's comments to Syfy Wire are sure to excite Marvel fans, who are hoping the co-directors hadn't really finished their in at Marvel. The Russo Brothers' ability as storytellers is perhaps unmatched within the MCU, given the mere scale of their stories. While The Winter Soldier was a pulled back approach, Joe and Anthony's next three projects were filled with ensemble casts, and a dizzying amount of characters to service.

The Russo Brothers did the impossible with their Avengers movies, as both blockbusters told complicated stories that never felt overstuffed or oversaturated. As such, it would be fascinating to see what they could do with either the X-Men or cosmic stories like the Fantastic Four/Silver Surfer.
Given their work at Marvel, The Russo Brothers seem like great choices to work on either franchise. The Russo Brothers would no doubt do wonders with the X-Men, adapting a new team of characters, and finding ways to develop each mutant. The X-Men movies sometimes failed to craft interesting narratives for all of the cast, instead regulating the supporting heroes to the background.

Fans are also eager to see the Fantastic Four and/or the Silver Surfer adapted into the MCU. The Russos dealt with plenty of cosmic stories in their Avengers movies, so they could probably create something truly special if they were to return to Marvel Studios for that long awaited movie.
The next installment in the MCU is Black Widow on May 1st, 2020. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
