Ryan Reynolds Swears 6 Underground Is Peak Michael Bay Lunacy And Proves It With Science
When your movie stars Ryan Reynolds, chances are the Deadpool star is going to inject his own brand of humor into the marketing campaign. 6 Underground is no different. In anticipation for the release of the Netflix film next week, the actor is poking fun at Michael Bay’s trigger-happy directing eye. Check it out below:
Ok, but where’s Ryan Reynolds’ The World According To show, Disney+? In the clip, the actor targets the famous Transformers director for his use of massive drawn-out explosive action sequences to reel audiences in to 6 Underground, which he pronounces to be “the most Michael Bay movie in the history of Michael Bay”.
Ryan Reynolds begins by dryly stating that the director that makes movies that are “tear-soaked emotionally understated drama that makes us all question our role in the human experience” before the video cuts to Michael Bay directing a series of scenes that are either caught on fire or about to be. Reynolds admits he’s joking and as he’s about to throw out an f-bomb about his lunacy, a robotic voiceover finishes his sentence into “absolute genius” instead.
The video then cuts to a black and white segment about the “The Bay Institute of Bayhem” that only apparently only recently scientists can finally measure what makes one of his film’s “the most Michael Bay movie ever”. Thanks to evolving technologies, Reynolds is happy to report his new movie has reached this status – also known as “Maximum Bayhem”.
The clip shows a series of “experiments” tested on audiences to prove just how Michael Bay 6 Underground is. Ryan Reynolds closes out the Netflix advertisement by asking viewers to see the movie “because science says you should”. It certainly has us thinking, how can Michael Bay get anymore Michael Bay?
6 Underground is written by Deadpool’s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and sees the return of the director since Transformers: The Last Knight deterred audiences from the famed franchise. Fans of Michael Bay will certainly be excited to see the filmmaker get back to action away from the franchise, yet the movie doesn’t seem to be getting a theatrical release. Audiences will have to settle for “Maximum Bayhem” at the comfort of their couches.
Ryan Reynolds stars with Mélanie Laurent, Corey Hawkins, Adria Arjona, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Dave Franco in the movie about off-the-grid agents from across the globe who come together to take down some notorious criminals. Additionally, Ryan Reynolds has signed on to star in another Netflix action flick with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot called Red Notice, set for next fall.
