Yes, James Gunn And David Ayer Have Talked Suicide Squad
After a shaky start, the DC live-action universe has seemingly hit its stride. Shazam! and Aquaman were both successes, and there are some very exciting projects coming down the pipeline. The upcoming blockbuster will feature a mixture of new and returning characters, and it turns out that the two directors did talk about their shared franchise.
James Gunn pivoted to the DC side of things and landed his The Suicide Squad gig during his brief firing by Marvel Studios. He's a great choice to bring the titular team back to theaters, as his Guardians of the Galaxy tenure has proven his ability to portray a motley crew of comic book characters. He recently revealed that he spoke to Ayer about the upcoming DC movie, saying:
Well, that's classy. It looks like David Ayer and James Gunn have a good relationship, due to their shared connection with the Suicide Squad. What's more, Gunn even cued him into the events of his upcoming DC debut.
James Gunn's comments come from his latest Instagram story Q&A. The filmmaker regularly uses his personal social media to directly communicate with the fans. Gunn has an interesting role to play with the upcoming movie, as it's a follow up the original Suicide Squad, but not necessarily a sequel. There were originally reports of it being a reboot, although Gunn hasn't revealed the specifics.
