Jurassic World: Dominion Set Shutting Down Over COVID Concerns, But There's Good News
The world is getting used to having to wait a little longer for Jurassic World: Dominion, what with the climate of current events causing the film to push its 2021 release date to a later date. But now, the production of director Colin Trevorrow’s return to the Jurassic World franchise is unfortunately being put on hold due to COVID concerns. But there’s good news, as the film won’t be down for too long, as the dino action is set to be back in production after a two week break.
Using a cute photo of a baby Triceratops wearing a mask, Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to announce that there were some positive test results on the Jurassic World: Dominion set. Thankfully, Trevorrow’s update carried the following positive reinforcement when it comes to his current gig:
It hasn’t been long since fellow 2021 evacuee The Batman found itself pushed into a 2022 release date, after a recent bout with COVID-19 infection on its own set. And with the dates of that particular production lining up with a two week waiting period after an official positive diagnosis, it’s not at all surprising that Jurassic World: Dominion is looking to get back to work in the coming weeks. Though it’s probably a good thing that the threequel to Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World saga already built in a delay of another year for its release window.
As more 2020 movies are bumped onto the 2021 calendar, the market is going to get even more crowded. While that was the mindset that most likely put Jurassic World: Dominion just that much closer to the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park, it now doesn’t hurt that some extra innings have been allowed when it comes to safely and respectfully delay filming. That sort of precaution has inspired folks like Jurassic World: Dominion star Bryce Dallas Howard to share messages of encouragement and thanks for Colin Trevorrow's big update:
Safety has been a going concern for all movies currently in production, and Jurassic World: Dominion is clearly no stranger to such concerns. Voluminous safety documents, changes to the number of crew members on set for their recent production leg in Malta and restrictions on set activity have shown us that in the past. This recent delay is another reminder that even with all intents to keep safe, sometimes life finds a way and we have to put things on hold until the coast is clear.
Jurassic World: Dominion will now be seen on its recently rescheduled date of June 10, 2022. So stay tune to CinemaBlend for further news as it breaks. Also, don’t forget to revisit the 2021 release schedule, as the projects sticking it out in that particular year are going to be waiting for you to add them to your to do list.
