Disney+'s LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special Trailer Opens Up The Multiverse
Just when you thought the Star Wars multiverse couldn’t be any more extensive, with a vast array of characters, species, and locales already on offer, there’s a new present under the tree that’s going to prove that very assumption wrong. Leave it to Disney+’s LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special to totally blow the doors off of who, what, and where the action of this new seasonal special could include. And it’s all thanks to a small key that opens some pretty big doors, as you can see in the first trailer for this Life Day event.
Riffing on the disastrous legend that is the original Star Wars Holiday Special, this new entry in to the canon of Lucasfilm’s grand franchise sees all of time and space up for grabs in its madcap comedy adventure. Thanks to Rey discovering a mysterious artifact that allows her to travel through the Star Wars canon, our Jedi hero will get to see key moments of the franchise’s history played out through the past. Even greater is the fact that she’ll get to encounter the younger version of her own Jedi mentor, Luke Skywalker, when he was going through his own training.
Of course, what’s a LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special without some fast and funny gags involving everything from giving the Emperor himself a Life Day gift to winding up in the middle of a Star Wars prequel podracing sequence? Literally everything is on the table in this Disney+ original. That includes hearing some old friends and new returning to the Star Wars fold.
Star Wars movie fans will be pleased to know that the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will see some of the cinematic cast returning to their roles for the big occasion. As Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and Kelly Marie Tran will be voicing C-3PO, Lando Calrissian, and Rose Tico respectively, this animated free-for-all boasts some familiar voices from a galaxy far, far away. Naturally, also making a return to this universe is the trademark wit and shenanigans that have made LEGO Star Wars a family friendly treat since this particular off-shoot was established through a series of wildly popular video games.
Now we know what you’re thinking: the only way the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special could be any more impressive is if somehow, in this world of temporal borders being broken down for amusement and corporate synergy, there was a way to incorporate The Mandalorian. Well, as sure as the kids love that hit Disney+ show, you can bet that there’s room for The Child/”Baby Yoda” to appear, and they practically give it away in the trailer. Don’t say the Star Wars saga never did anything for its fans, especially around the holidays.
If you’re thinking of getting that special someone something for Life Day, you’re going to have to get a move on. The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is set to premiere on Disney+ on November 17th, the very day those festivities across the galaxy kick off. So happy Life Day, and may the Force be with you, dear readers.
