Whether you know him best as the Duke of Suffolk, August Walker, Sherlock Holmes, Geralt of Rivia, or the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill – who recently made an epic Deadpool & Wolverine cameo as "The Cavillrine" – has firmly planted himself into pop culture's consciousness and his star power is far from dwindling. While the actor’s days playing Superman are over and he has also passed the torch for his lead role on The Witcher to Liam Hemsworth, the British A-lister has plenty more in the pipeline to be excited about. Let’s review all of the upcoming Henry Cavill movies (and other intriguing projects) that we know of.

Highlander (TBD)

It has been said that there can only be one Highlander, but it looks like we are in for more from this cult favorite franchise about immortal swordsmen. Chad Stahelski – director of the John Wick movies – is helming an upcoming reboot of the 1986 cult favorite fantasy thriller starring Christopher Lambert and Sir Sean Connery, with Henry Cavill in the lead.

The actor told The Hollywood Reporter that he is a fan of the original films and, while initially uncertain about the intentions of the update, he promises that the new story will be “going deep into the meaning of these characters, their trials and tribulations.” He also added that if fans were impressed with his sword fighting skills in The Witcher, they “haven’t seen anything.” An earlier article by Variety mentioned that Highlander was set to start shooting in July 2024.

In The Grey (TBD)

Having now starred in two Guy Ritchie movies – namely 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. as suave, American CIA agent Napoleon Solo, and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from 2024 as a fictionalized version of Gus March-Phillips – Henry Cavill is quickly becoming a recurring player of the filmmaker’s career. He already has a third collaboration with Ritchie in the works called In the Grey.

First announced at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 and previously securing a spot on our upcoming 2025 movies schedule before it was unset, the film follows a group of people who are not quite criminals, but not necessarily on the right side of the law either, who team up to locate a stolen fortune. As reported by Deadline in mid-2023, the thriller will pair Cavill with fellow Ritchie movie veterans Jake Gyllenhaal (who starred in 2024’s The Covenant) and his Ministry co-star, Eiza González.

The Rosie Project (TBD)

In addition to his string of upcoming high-concept, action packed projects (which have already become a staple of his career), Cavill has something of a smaller and more lighthearted nature in the pipeline. In 2021, Deadline reported that he is set to star in an adaptation of Australian author Graeme Simison’s romantic 2014 novel, The Rosie Project.

Steve Falk has been tapped to write and direct the film, which focuses on a college professor who sets out to put an end to his long-time losing streak with love by creating a questionnaire reflecting his requirements for the perfect companion. However, it’s in that moment when he meets a woman who does not fit in with his selected criteria, but might be the right match after all. No further updates regarding The Rosie Project have come out since Cavill’s casting was announced.

Warhammer 40,000 (TBD)

With so many upcoming video game movies and TV shows on the way, as well as adaptations of tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons making a splash recently, it is only a matter of time that the popular miniature wargame would be brought to life on screen. A live-action TV series inspired by Warhammer 40,000 that will be available with an Amazon Prime subscription is becoming a reality and one of the most important people behind the scenes is Henry Cavill.

As a lifelong fan of the games – which have existed since 1987 – Cavill referred to the opportunity to executive produce and star in the upcoming show as “the greatest privilege of my professional career” when speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The actor first announced his involvement in the adaptation in an Instagram post from 2022, but the series remains in the developmental stages as of late.

Squadron 42 (TBD)

In addition to his various film and television roles, Henry Cavill has also lent his star presence to the upcoming video game, Squadron 42, which also features the acting talents of Mark Hamill, Mark Strong, Andy Serkis, Gillian Anderson, Gary Oldman, Ben Mendelsohn, John Rhys-Davies, and many more. The story follows a rookie UEE Navy combat pilot and it's set in the Star Citizen universe. Cavill voices Squadron 42 commanding member, Ryan Enright.

While there's clearly a lot of interest and enthusiasm for this game, it has taken its sweet time getting ready for public consumption. In October 2023 – more than 10 years after it was announced – IGN reported that the campaign function of the game was “feature complete.” A release date for the long-awaited title from Cloud Imperium Games has yet to be determined.

Voltron (TBD)

Out of the several upcoming sci-fi movies set to star Henry Cavill, the most highly anticipated at this point just might be Voltron. Amazon MGM landed the rights to a live-action feature based on the classic animated TV show about space explorers piloting lion-esque robots that combine into one monstrous battle machine.

Joining Cavill on this adventure is a star-studded cast including Academy Award nominee Sterling K. Brown, Warrior Nun's Alba Baptista, and singer-songwriter Rita Ora. HelmingVoltron is Rawson Marshall Thurber of Dodgeball and Red Notice fame.

Enola Holmes 3 (?)

Easily the most iconic character whom Cavill has portrayed outside of Superman is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. He first filled the shoes of the world-famous literary detective in 2020 for Netflix’s Enola Holmes – alongside Millie Bobby Brown as Sherlock’s titular young sister – and again in the sequel two years later.

In November 2023, Collider broke an exclusive report that a screenplay for a third Enola Holmes movie is in the works. We have no clues at the moment to determine what mystery the teen sleuth will be investigating or whether or not Cavill will officially be returning to his role as the elder Holmes in the upcoming Netflix movie, so keep your eyes peeled for updates
