Halloween Kills Trailer Has Michael Myers On An Insane And Bloody Rampage
The horror movies of 2020 are back, ladies and gentleman. Thanks to the pandemic, a whole slew of titles from the genre found themselves delayed, and now that the theatrical experience is back we are getting to see and preview a whole lot of scary movies. In addition to the releases of Spiral: From The Book Of Saw, A Quiet Place Part II and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, we also have The Forever Purge on the way next week, and a brand new trailer just debuted yesterday for Candyman. And as though all of that weren't enough to scratch our itch for big scares on the big screen, we now have this amazing new preview for Halloween Kills.
The new movie is a direct sequel to David Gordon Green's Halloween from 2018 (which itself was made as a direct sequel to John Carpenter's 1978 original), and it looks like Michael Myers is in tip top shape following everything he went through during his showdown with Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode. In fact, he seems deadlier than ever, as it's pretty crazy just how many people he murders in this trailer. I can't say I approve of it from a spoiler standpoint, as there are a number of moments I am most certainly going to remember when I'm watching the film in October, but it definitely raises my anticipation level for the mayhem that it promises.
Also, as someone who whole-heartedly believes that Halloween III: Season Of The Witch is the most underrated movie in the franchise, I love the special nod to the Silver Shamrock masks – each of them worn by three of Michael's many, many victims:
What's additionally fascinating about this trailer is that it seems to put a kind of "rule" on the indominable nature of Michael Myers. Laurie identifies him as human (specifically "flesh and blood"), but she also seems to suggest that the more he feeds the evil inside him the more powerful he becomes. It also appears that he has some kind of mission in Halloween Kills that involves his childhood home – but this time around he's not only facing a challenging force in the three generations of Strode women, but also surviving victims of the past who want their revenge.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak all reprise their roles from the previous Halloween film, and this time around they are joined in an ensemble cast that also includes Will Patton, Thomas Mann and Anthony Michael Hall. After a whole extra year of waiting, Halloween Kills is finally heading to theaters on October 15 – and it's a title we're excited to see with a crowd full of screaming movie-goers.
