Keanu Reeves' John Wick 4 Kicked Off Production In A Totally On-Brand Way
While John Wick: Chapter 4 took on some delays to its production schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the world has stood in eager anticipation to learn when Keanu Reeves’ titular hitman would return. As the world has clearly started to return to the movies, productions have been kicking off in the hopes of feeding that desire. And now, we’ve learned that John Wick: Chapter 4 is now one of the latest film to kick off production, and the news was announced through a method that was totally on-brand for the action franchise.
So if you’re subscribed to a special text chain that was used to promote John Wick: Chapter 3’s release back in the day, you may have received a very special text. CinemaBlend's own Adam Holmes received this message, and it looks like The Continental has provided the world with the standard running start, as they’ve alerted fans that Mr. Wick and his friends are back in front of cameras. Here’s what that special message from the John Wick marketing machine contained:
Now that could have been good enough, as John Wick: Chapter 4 is already so hotly anticipated that fans are hanging on every word to come out of the production. With Lawrence Fishburne praising the script prior to his return as The Bowery King and casting news revealing IT’s Bill Skarsgaard, Army of the Dead’s Hiroyuki Sanada, and a bunch of other talented actors as part of the roster, there’s been quite a bit of buzz as of late. But now, to go with that talk around town, there’s a new photo that came with that message:
When we last left Keanu Reeves at the end of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Mr. Wick was presumed dead by those who were hunting him. Of course, we learned this was not the case, and John was ready to team up with fellow presumed corpse The Bowery King. Their mission: to take down The High Table, once and for all. John Wick: Chapter 4 begins the road to that vengeance and, with John Wick: Chapter 5 already in the works, that revenge is already looking to be both epic and satisfying.
Considering the way in which John Wick: Chapter 4's filming was announced, one has to wonder if the marketing team will provide any other teases as production continues. The finished product is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 27, 2022, provided no further hiccups present themselves. But if any other changes are to be made, surely Winston and his Continental team will provide us all with another heads up. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair.
