At this point, James Gunn is essentially an expert when it comes to the subject of raccoons. The filmmaker helped bring Marvel’s Rocket Raccoon to the big screen in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, making the gun-toting creature one of the most recognizable characters in pop culture. And as you would expect the director tends to comment when he sees any related to raccoons on social media. Just recently, he reacted to a pretty wild situation, and his response was both funny and sweet.
A Twitter user took to the platform to describe how a raccoon fell through the roof of her bedroom. And as the situation escalated, she had as many as five of the critters wreaking havoc in her room. While she had the correct instinct in reaching out to the Humane Society, the group was unfortunately unable to help since the situation involved a mother raccoon protecting her babies.
When James Gunn spotted the news, he generously lent his assistance by offering to pay for the damages, and he gave the perfect reason for doing so. Check out his A+ Twitter response down below:
James Gunn is truly a good sport, and it’s hilarious to see him take responsibility for the animals he’s spent quality time with. After all, he did have one on set while in production on the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Gunn has previously spoken about how he used the creature as a reference for capturing Rocket’s look and movements. So yeah, the man has the right to speak on behalf of raccoons.
It goes without saying that James Gunn has affection for all of his heroes in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, but Rocket seems to be the closest to him. The diminutive former mercenary is not only blunt and funny, but he’s also proven to have a heart of gold when he wants to. And with his heroic team-up with the Avengers in Endgame, he’s proven to have one of the most complex arcs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, now all eyes are on what Gunn does with Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. There are a number of rumors floating around, with some even claiming that Gunn plans to off the fan-favorite “trash panda.” While Gunn will neither confirm nor deny this, he has indicated that he has big plans for the character.

Let’s just hope none of those plans involve Rocket dropping into someone’s bedroom and tearing up their personal possessions. Because after this fan’s ordeal, that might be a little triggering for some.
