Like every other major franchise, the Marvel Cinematic Universe suffered a number of setbacks over the last year. This was especially true for Scarlett Johansson’s long-awaited Black Widow movie, which was delayed time and time again before landing on its current release date this July. Black Widow recently had its premiere, where actress Florence Pugh reacted to seeing a Marvel movie on the big screen again. She just happened to be in said movie.
Florence Pugh’s star power has been steadily growing thanks to acclaimed performances in Midsommar and Little Women-- the latter of which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Pugh is making her MCU debut as Yelena in Black Widow, and shared her excitement for the movie’s life on the big screen, posting:
The movies are back, baby. And with new movies come premiere events, even if they're still a little more distanced than usual. Still, Florence Pugh shared fan excitement about Black Widow, and the prospect of seeing the new Marvel movie on the big screen.
The above post comes to us from Florence Pugh’s personal Instagram page. The Fighting with My Family actress has amassed an impressive 2.5 million followers at the time of writing this story, partly due to her delightful baking videos. And now that Black Widow is finally arriving one year later, she’s using the platform to share her excitement about Yelena’s big screen journey.
In addition to theaters, Black Widow will also be available for an additional price on Disney+. You can use this link to sign up for the streaming service.
It’s been interesting to see how the last few major theatrical releases have fared in theaters. A Quiet Place Part II showed that folks were willing to return to the movies, but blockbusters like In the Heights have continued to have disappointing box office numbers. But considering how massively popular the MCU is, Black Widow has a ton of anticipation behind it.

Given her recent acting credits, moviegoers are definitely interested to see what Florence Pugh brings to the table with Black Widow. The reviews have all universally praised her take on Yelena, and it sounds like her character might have some legs in the greater MCU. So hopefully Pugh has more exciting premieres to attend moving forward.
Not much is known about Black Widow’s contents, but Marvel fans are eager for some closure when it comes to Scarlett Johansson’s title character. Cate Shortland’s movie will also illuminate Natasha’s dark past, including her original chosen family. Let’s just hope that it offers context to her sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame.
Black Widow will finally arrive on July 9th. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.
