Surprise, Amber Heard Had A Baby Girl Before Aquaman 2 Started Filming
For most of us, getting to work on a highly anticipated superhero blockbuster sequel (of which we are one of the lead stars) would be the highlight of our year. But for Amber Heard, returning to play Mera in Aquaman 2 seems to be a distant second to the announcement she just posted to her social media accounts. Heard, as you can now see, is a new mom, and is referring to her beautiful baby as “the beginning of the rest of my life.” Spoken like a true parent.
As you can see in the post now, this journey to parenthood that Amber Heard has been on has lasted her four years. While Heard expresses a desire to keep the bulk of her off-screen life private, she does reveal the name of her new daughter, Oonagh Paige Heard. It’s also made clear that the baby has arrived via surrogacy. As Heard expresses in the post:
The arrival of Amber Heard’s new baby is not expected to have any effect or cause any delay on the production of James Wan’s upcoming Aquaman sequel, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. As we recently reported, filming on the DC and Warner Bros. sequel is underway, with both Heard and Jason Momoa being on location for day one, which appeared to take place in an extremely frigid location.
The sequel is filming under the bogus title of Necrus, which will ring a bell to DC Comics fans who are familiar with their pre-Crisis canon. In that time frame, Necrus was an underwater city that appears and disappears at random, showing up in new locations every time that it resurfaces. Necrus is known as the “Black City,” and was ruled for a time by Mongo, though it’s unclear if that character is due to show up in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom when it finally arrives in theaters.
Amber Heard’s personal life has been, shall we say, busy. She and former flame Johnny Depp have been engaged in a legal battle that has dragged on far longer than either of them probably preferred. This has led many fans of Depp’s to start rallies to potentially get Heard removed from Aquaman 2 (though that hasn’t worked yet, and isn’t going to happen now). Heard is so embedded in DC lore, she even participated in the additional photography that Zack Snyder conducted on his Snyder Cut of Justice League, allowing Mera to appear in the Knightmare scene that concluded Snyder’s four-hour cut.
We congratulate Amber Heard on the arrival of her daughter, and wish the family all of the health and happiness. Look for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in theaters starting on December 16, 2022.
