Chris Pratt Is All Jokes (And An F-Bomb) When Asked About Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Spoilers
Although Chris Pratt had starred in movies like Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty before he debuted as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, that Marvel movie played an integral role catapulting him to Hollywood stardom. Seven years later, Pratt has four MU appearances under his belt, and that will eventually become six following Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But understandably, Pratt isn’t willing to divulge any specific details about the latter project just yet, instead breaking out jokes and an f-bomb.
During the world premiere for his latest movie, The Tomorrow War, Chris Pratt said the following to Variety when asked about what we can expect from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3:
James Gunn is back, you say? That was a bold move on Marvel Studios’ part considering how the last two Guardians of the Galaxy movies turned out. Ok, not really, it makes all the sense in the world, and we’ve known about this for years now. That being said, there was a period where Gunn had been fired from Vol. 3 and we had to face the prospect of another filmmaker taking the helming reins for Vol. 3. However, by March 2019, Marvel and Disney reinstated Gunn, although by that point he’d already signed on to write and direct The Suicide Squad, necessitating that he finish the DC movie before moving to Vol. 3.
Alas, while sometimes we can count on actors providing surprising inside information on highly-anticipated movies (I’m looking at you, Alfred Molina), in this case, Chris Pratt knows all too well that Marvel doesn’t want him blabbing about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. So instead, he deflected with a joke answer and threw in an f-bomb for good measure. Honestly, we should probably expect more of these kinds of answers about Vol. 3 between now and when the movie comes out, although obviously he’ll be a little more open once the official press tour begins.
When we last left off with Star-Lord, a.k.a. Peter Quill, in Avengers: Endgame, he was beginning his search for the time-displaced Gamora and was arguing with Thor over who was truly the Guardians’ leader. Although Quill and the rest of the Guardians will have some kind of role to play in Thor: Love and Thunder, it doesn’t sound like they’ll be in the movie that long. As for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn has confirmed that it will be the final chapter of his MCU saga. In other words, don’t get your hopes up about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to begin principal photography this November, and will be released on May 5, 2023. Look through our upcoming Marvel movies guide to learn what else the MCU franchise is sending to theaters.
