Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt’s Divorce Is Close To Getting Finalized, But Some Assets Still Need To Be Split
The end of Brangelina has been a long and painful process in court for the couple and their six children. Despite the couple filing for divorce back in 2016, the specifics of their split have raged for five years as they have recently battled over a custody dispute, domestic abuse allegations from Jolie, and now their wine business Chateau Miraval.
Most recently, Brad Pitt won 50/50 joint custody of his and Angelina Jolie’s children, Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12. The decision reportedly left Jolie “bitterly disappointed," and she has scheduled a hearing on July 9 regarding the decision. In addition to this, Jolie is now trying to get out of the French wine business the couple have owned together since 2011.
Angelina Jolie has reportedly filed documents to lift a restraining order on the transfer of their assets so that she can unload Nouvel LLC, also known as Chateau Miraval. TMZ reports that the Maleficent actress needs to unfreeze their assets “immediately” so she can sell her portion of the French winery to a third party.
She reportedly contacted Brad Pitt’s legal team to help her resolve the situation without taking things to court, but they evidently didn’t jump at the chance to help her out. Since Jolie has a pending deal that she would like to go through, she decided to ask their judge to intervene on the situation. Per the report, a judge has not yet signed off on the request made by Angelina Jolie.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have continued to share their wine business during their drawn out divorce. The winery, which is in Provence, France, is the location where the couple tied the knot back in 2014 in an intimate ceremony. Chateau Miraval has been producing rosé since 2012, but the business apparently became more popular in 2020. Early this year, Pitt posed for an ad for the wine:
It seems with this move Angelina Jolie is trying to further cut ties with her ex-husband. The couple have been in business together behind Chateau Miraval since 2011 when they reportedly bought the property for $60 million. Within the past year Jolie has been leading a more aggressive case against her ex, filing documents claiming Pitt had committed acts of domestic violence against her and their children in March. Additionally, her eldest Maddox testified against him, sharing his plans to remove “Pitt” from his last name.
Aside from the couple’s personal business, Angelina Jolie is getting ready to appear in her first Marvel film, starring in Eternals with Richard Madden, Gemma Chan and Salma Hayek among the movie's huge cast. Brad Pitt’s next role will be in the action flick Bullet Train. As further developments about Brangelina crop up we’ll keep you updated here on CinemaBlend.
