Doctor Strange 2: Bruce Campbell’s Response To Those Marvel Rumors Is A+
Anyone familiar with Bruce Campbell knows that he’s tight with director Sam Raimi. The two men skyrocketed to fame together with 1981’s The Evil Dead, and they’ve collaborated on numerous other projects since then, which includes Campbell playing three different characters in Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. With Raimi having returned to the superhero realm to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it’s been rumored that Campbell will show up in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, and the actor delivered an A+ response addressing those claims.
While plugging The Evil Dead’s return to theaters on October 7, Bruce Campbell chatted with EW about his potential involvement with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After noting that this was a “pretty good rumor,” which is wording he believed wouldn’t get him “sued,” Campbell said the following:
It’s hard to argue with that logic, so if Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stands any chance of being good, we should likely expect Bruce Campbell to be involved in some way, even if the actor isn’t willing to confirm anything just yet. Of course, let’s not forget that Campbell himself shared a very teasing photo back in late February of the London skyline, and that happens to be the same city where Multiverse of Madness was shooting. Coincidence? Personally, I think not, but that can’t be said with 100% certainty just yet.
For what it’s worth, Bruce Campbell expressed interest in appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness back in April 2020, shortly after it was confirmed that Sam Raimi inherited the helming reins from Scott Derrickson. So I find it difficult that Raimi would pass up on the opportunity to fit his friend into Stephe Strange’s next cinematic adventure. Just don’t expect Campbell to reprise Ash Williams there; that’s simply April Fools fodder.
As for who is confirmed to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, along with Benedict Cumberbatch obviously reprising the eponymous protagonist, we’ll also reunite with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong’s Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo and Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer. So far the only confirmed new character is America Chavez, who will be played by Xochitl Gomez. Loki head writer Michael Waldron was brought aboard to rewrite the script back in February 2020.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will cast its spell in theaters on March 25, 2022. While we wait for more updates on its progress, stay tuned to CinemaBlend for news concerning other upcoming Marvel movies, and be sure to look through our 2022 release schedule to learn what non-Marvel offerings are on the horizon.
