Will Jamie Lee Curtis Play Laurie Strode After Halloween Ends? Here’s The Latest
The horror genre has been in a thrilling renaissance over the past few years, to the delight of moviegoers. And as classic properties were revived, the OG scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis stepped back into her iconic role as Laurie Strode in 2018’s Halloween. Curtis is expected to star in the next two sequels, but will she retire as Laurie after Halloween Ends? Here’s the latest from the beloved film icon herself.
John Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween was what made Jamie Lee Curtis a star, and she’s consistently returned to the franchise as Laurie Strode throughout the course of her decorated career. David Gordon Green’s take on the character made her a recluse who was controlled by her trauma, allowing Curtis to give an extremely emotional performance. While fans are eager to see her return in Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, JLC recently addressed her possible future with the franchise, saying:
Say it ain’t so! Because after decades playing final girl Laurie Strode, it seems her time in Haddonfield might come to an end after Halloween Ends. Jamie Lee Curtis knows what that mysterious movie will contain, and it sounds like it’ll pack quite an ending.
Jamie Lee Curtis’ comments about her horror future come from an interview with Total Film about the release of Halloween Kills. Eventually the conversation turned to her possible time as Laurie after the current trilogy ends. But it sounds like Curtis might be hanging up her hat, or in this case butcher’s knife, after the next two Halloween installments.
It’s hard to imagine Laurie Strode being gone forever, but the beloved horror protagonist has already come and gone various times over the decades. And considering how long Jamie Lee Curtis has been battling Michael Myers, you can’t blame her for wanting to see her story come to a satisfying end. We’ll just have to see what badassery will come with the next two Halloween movies.
The 2018 Halloween movie was a record breaking success, and Blumhouse quickly ordered two more sequels from the minds of David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. But while Halloween Kills was meant to arrive in theaters last October, the movie was delayed a full year in hopes of still making a strong box office impact.
Luckily, anticipation has been buoyed by the thrilling trailer for Halloween Kills, which features the return of a number of characters from John Carpenter’s 1978 original. The movie will follow as the town of Haddonfield becomes an angry mob, and arms up to kill Michael Myers once and for all.
