Superhero fans are in the home stretch when it comes to the release of The Suicide Squad, as James Gunn’s big-screen take on Task Force X arrives early next month. With it will come plenty of humor, violence and heart, along with a host of deadly villains. John Cena’s Peacemaker is one of the new faces audiences will meet this time around, and he’s already emerging as a fan-favorite. The arrogant character is going to work up a serious sweat during the course of the film and, as it so happens, Cena had a little help when it came to keeping up his perspiration.
When it comes to movies, actors typically need help keeping sweat off their bodies as they work. The Suicide Squad’s James Gunn acknowledged this very thing in a recent Twitter post, before acknowledging that his actors experienced the opposite. With this, he shared a video of John Cena being spritzed while on the set of the film. Check it out for yourself down below:
As you can see, applying fake sweat is a very real thing and, while some may not always notice it on screen, it’s certainly important to the film as a whole. John Cena doesn’t seem to mind it at all, though the actor has more than shown that he can roll with the punches on many occasions.
John Cena’s truly been on a roll as of late, as he’s coming off the heels of F9’s release and the news of his return to WWE. But it would seem that it’s The Suicide Squad that’s really giving him a chance to have some fun. The actor has actually been promoting the film while wearing his character’s costume, and he’s actually been doing it so frequently that James Gunn just can’t get enough of it.
There’s no telling what lies ahead for Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, but we do know that the movie will only be the beginning for the character. John Cena is set to reprise the role in an eponymous spinoff series set before the events of the movie. While exact plot details are scarce, it would seem that the show is going to amp up the hilariously volatile nature of the character. The series is set to drop next year on HBO Max, which you can sign up for using this link.
John Cena’s Peacemaker is sure to get into plenty of conflict with his comrades during the course of The Suicide Squad. But at the very least, most of the characters can find common ground in the fact that they’ll be sweating their butts off as they complete their mission.
