The DC Extended Universe is an ever-changing place, and it’s been fascinating to see how Warner Bros. moves forward with its comic book property. One character that the studio has put a ton of stock in is Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, who will make her third appearance in The Suicide Squad. And now the Oscar-nominated actress has revealed her hopes for Harley’s future on the big screen.
Margot Robbie made her DC debut in David Ayer’s original Suicide Squad movie, and was arguably the best part about the theatrical cut. And after getting a spinoff with Birds of Prey, James Gunn put his spin on Harley Quinn with his upcoming R-Rated blockbuster. But Robbie is already looking forward to her future in the shared universe, recently sharing her hopes for a new story with:
I mean, I really am quite invested in Harley's romantic life. So a box that I did like to check in this one is seeing her try and date new guys because it's something that I've always enjoyed seeing when it's popped up in the comics and something I would like to explore like you said, Poison Ivy, that is a relationship I'd love to see play out on screen.
Same, though. Harley and Poison Ivy have a unique relationship in both the comics as well as Kaley Cuoco’s Harley Quinn animated series. It seems Margot Robbie wants to see what it’s like when her signature character is dating, while adding Ivy into the story.
Margot Robbie’s comments to Comic Book are sure to delight DC fans, who are eager for any and all Harley Quinn content on the big screen. And while Robbie has already played the role in three different movies for three different directors, she’s knows exactly what she’d like to explore next as the beloved femme fatale.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Margot Robbie has spoken about her eagerness to bring Poison Ivy into the DC Extended Universe. Clearly the friendship and romantic connection Harley has with her fellow villainess is at the forefront of Robbie’s mind, so we’ll have to see if/when Warner Bros. moves together with that story. Plus, which lucky actress gets the role.
But before any of this can happen, Harley is going to have to survive the events of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The R-rated blockbuster looks absolutely bonkers, and Gunn and company have been teasing how many characters will perish throughout its 132-minute runtime. Hopefully Harley managed to survive her encounter with Starro.
