There's Some Amazing Wolverine And Deadpool Concept Art That's Hugh Jackman Approved
The superhero genre has given us so much over the years. We’ve seen the Avengers band together to defend the universe from the wrath of Thanos as well as Wonder Woman facing off with Ares, the God of War. Unfortunately, we’ve yet to receive that long-hoped-for team-up between the X-Men’s Wolverine and Deadpool. That, however, has not stopped fans from imagining what it would look like, and this latest piece of concept art is a bit more “unexpected.” But that didn’t stop Hugh Jackman from giving his stamp of approval to the amazing artwork.
Hugh Jackman took to his Instagram stories to shine a spotlight on the hilarious piece of concept art, which originated from notable visual artist BossLogic. The piece in question places Wolverine and Deadpool in an alternate version of the poster for Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock’s 2009 rom-com, The Proposal. Yeah, you read that right. Don’t believe me, check it out for yourself down below:
This may not be the Wolverine/Deadpool team-up poster fans expected, but it may in fact be the one we needed. The art is a clever spin on the original poster, and it humorously encapsulates the relationship between the two famed X-Men. It’s a bond that’s filled with uneasiness and of course, plenty of blood.
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ definitive portrayals of the characters are major reasons why fans are eager to see them on the big screen together. Unfortunately, the chances of that seem slim due to the fact that Jackman retired from the role of Wolverine following 2017’s Logan. In addition, Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which complicates things even further.
Over the years, the actors have shared varying thoughts on whether they’d be up for a Wolverine/Deadpool movie. When asked about the prospect several years ago, Hugh Jackman admitted to liking the idea but stated that the timing might be wrong for it.
Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds has been somewhat more upbeat about the prospect of joining forces with his superhero frenemy on the big screen. But even the quippy actor has had some doubts about it happening due to Hugh Jackman having retired his adamantium claws.
Ryan Reynolds did seem to put serious thought into getting Wolverine into a Deadpool film. As a matter of fact, he got fans hyped earlier this year when he revealed that prior to Disney’s purchase of Fox, the franchise’s third installment was intended to have Wolverine and Deadpool embarking on a road trip. And I think many would agree with me when I say I’d still love to see this movie.
