Jonah Hill has come a long way from the young, fresh faced actor he was in projects like Superbad and Knocked Up. Once known for being a heavier set comedian with the brunt of jokes thrown his way based on his body proportions, Jonah Hill lost a ton of weight a few years back while simultaneously diving deeper into other genres. Now Hill celebrates body positivity with a shirtless photo debuting his new tattoo - and he couldn’t look more different than he did at the start of his career.
Jonah Hill, like many other celebrities and people who have been in the not-always-glamorous spotlight of the public eye, has had to deal with his fair share of body shaming over the years. He now has a permanent reminder of positive energy and self love on his back, and he shared his new tattoo with a cool shirtless photo that really shows how far he has come since his Superbad days. While the back tattoo isn’t nearly Jonah Hill’s first tattoo, it may just be the most body positive one. The tat says “Body Love” and is a reference to the Body Glove brand of water sports apparel, as the tat is pretty much the exact logo minus the “G”. This makes a lot of sense for the actor, as he is on the water and his surfboard fairly often, and of course has had an uphill battle with loving his body.
In fact, in a post earlier this year Jonah Hill shared another post on his Instagram that seemed to mix the two ideas. The post consisted of a tabloid article about Hill that showed him in a wet suit on his surfboard and then drying off shirtless. In the caption, the actor reflected on just how far he has come in his self love journey that he can now look at stories like that without being phased.
He also states that it took until his 30’s to feel comfortable taking his shirt off in public, which wasn’t that long ago considering the Wolf of Wall Street actor is only 37. Jonah Hill sharing not only his body love tattoo in a photo for the world to see, but while being shirtless too is testament to just how successful he has been in his self love journey.
Fans are loving both the tattoo and Jonah Hill in the comments on his post. Commenters are talking about how they admire the transparency of Hill and are appreciating the journey he has had. Two different commenters sum it up pretty nicely, saying, “You heal you,” and, “love your love.”
Jonah Hill isn’t the only celebrity celebrating self love and a healthy mind and body, and the mindset shift is one that people are apparently loving. Hopefully the permanency of his new Body Love tat will keep the mindset intact as well!
