Latest Doctor Strange 2 Update Teases Big Things For His Magical Power
Following the Loki season finale, the hype level has been through the roof for the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, since many people (but not all) believe that the third Spider-Man flick will somehow connect to the multiverse. Of course, Stephen Strange (who will appear in the Spider-Man sequel) will also be playing with multiple realities in his second solo outing, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But what does this mean for his power set? Well, the latest update on the film is teasing some big things for his magical abilities.
We last saw Dr. Strange in Avengers: Endgame, and many speculated that we would see him again in WandaVision at some point, but those plans were scrapped. So fans of the character have definitely been wondering what the sorceror has been up to. Thankfully, in a recent interview with Geek Vibes Podcast, Loki and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness screenwriter, Michael Waldron, had this to say about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's resident sorcerer:
This is really cool, since I’ve definitely been wondering where Doctor Strange is, power-wise, ever since he faced off against the Mad Titan in Avengers: Infinity War. I’m especially interested in the fact that he'll be joined by Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, who also seemed to be at the height of her powers by the end of WandaVision. And while we’re still not certain who the main antagonist will be in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel but, with two magical and powerful heroes, could a magic duel of sorts come into play at some point?
As fans ponder their questions, some may be tempted everything that has led up to this multiversal adventure has been plotted out from the very first Iron Man. But the truth is, it isn’t like that at all. In the same interview, here’s what Michael Waldron had to say about the process of telling stories in the MCU:
This is really amazing to me since it honestly feels like all of these stories are interwoven to perfection. After I saw the Loki finale, I couldn’t wait to see Ant-Man: Quantumania, since I know the big reveal at the end of Loki will spill into that the film, which isn’t even coming out until 2023. And of course, we all know the events of Endgame spilled into WandaVision. So I’m always trying to keep track of every character in the MCU, since I can't shake the feeling that they could turn up in any of the movies, which makes the MCU feel a lot like the comics I grew up.
But before his next big screen outing, we’ll see Doctor Strange again in Marvel’s What If...? series (with Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the role), which premieres this month. So at least we won’t have too long to wait to see him again. But what do you think? Could Doctor Strange beat the Scarlet Witch in a magical duel? Make your voice heard in the poll below!
And be sure to check out Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when it opens in theaters on on March 25, 2022.
