No Big Deal, Reese Witherspoon Is Following Her $900 Million Company Sale With An Ashton Kutcher Rom-Com
Since the release of Wild and Gone Girl back in 2014, Reese Witherspoon has made a huge name for herself as an exciting Hollywood producer, along with still being a beloved actress. Her company Hello Sunshine formed out of Witherspoon’s love for books and has become the name behind Big Little Lies, The Morning Show and Little Fires Everywhere. On Monday, it was announced that the company sold itself to another media company for $900 million in an effort to expand. Can you believe after that there’s even more good news from Witherspoon?
It’s also been announced that Reese Witherspoon’s leading role in a Netflix romantic comedy called Your Place Or Mine now has Ashton Kutcher by her side. The actress is set to star in the movie being written and directed by The Devil Wears Prada’s Aline Brosh McKenna, per Deadline. Is there anything she isn’t doing right now?
Your Place Or Mine is going to be about two best friends who live on opposite coasts, but when one of them decides to pursue a lifelong dream, the other volunteers to keep an eye on their teenage son. The characters swap homes and change each of their lives. There's no word yet on who’s who. Reese Witherspoon has been on the project since last year, along with another Netflix rom-com called The Cactus, but we’ve just learned Kutcher is her co-star, and that makes this twice as exciting.
Ashton Kutcher has not been in a movie since 2014, when he cameoed in the Jamie Foxx-led Annie remake. The actor has also been busy starring in Netflix's The Ranch, along with his working with several high technology companies, his other business ventures and raising his kids with wife Mila Kunis. In the actor’s heyday, he was particularly known for his romantic comedies like No Strings Attached, Just Married and Valentine’s Day.
It’s been some time since Reese Witherspoon signed on for a rom-com either, so we expect good things from Your Place Or Mine. The Netflix movie is also being produced by funny-man Jason Bateman and his producing partner Michael Costigan, in collaboration with Hello Sunshine. It’s a huge week for Witherspoon to say the least.
Now, of course, the bigger news here is Reese Witherspoon has become so successful as a filmmaker that she sold her company for nearly $1 billion. Hello Sunshine has been acquired by a newly formed company under two former Disney executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs. Their goal is to build an independent entertainment company “for the streaming era,” per CNBC’s report on the sale. Witherspoon has a lot of really exciting upcoming projects on her plate, and we didn’t even get to Legally Blonde 3!
