Playful celebrity “feuds” have proven to be plenty of fun for the general public, and Anthony Mackie and Tom Holland make up one of Hollywood’s most entertaining pairings. The two Marvel stars have fired jokes back and forth for the past few years, with both one-upping the other here and there. Mackie has actually gotten the last laugh in the past few instances, and he seems to be keeping up that streak. That’s right, the new Captain America has once again called out Holland, and his latest comments involve Disneyland.
Just a few months ago, Disneyland celebrated the opening of Avengers Campus, a new Marvel-themed area within the park that features attractions based on the comic company’s iconic characters. WEB-SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is one of the new rides that attendees have been flocking to, and it turns out Anthony Mackie has also checked it out during his own visit. In the ride, fans help Tom Holland’s Peter Parker capture mischievous Spider-Bots and get points for doing so. Mackie ultimately raked in a nice score and took to Instagram to playfully rub it in, tagging Holland in the process. Check out the post:
You have to admit that Anthony Mackie definitely put in work on WEB-SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. It’s a score that even Spider-Man himself would have to marvel at though, in this case, Tom Holland has yet to reply. The actor doesn’t always reply to Mackie right away and seems to wait for the just the right moment to clap back.
Anthony Mackie has been making jokes about Tom Holland as early as 2016 and, in some instances, even co-star Sebastian Stan has joined in on the playful ribbing. Though in 2018, Holland got a bit of revenge. During his and Mackie’s appearance at ACE Comic Con, Mackie asserted that he hadn’t seen Spider-Man: Homecoming, with Holland then remarking that he’d yet to see a Falcon movie. The joke was a true zinger in the moment, but Mackie would finally get his vindication earlier this year.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finally saw Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson take center stage and ultimately become the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America. Not only that, but a Captain America 4, starring Mackie, was later reported to be in development. Following this, many were quick to remember Holland’s comments, and even Mackie couldn’t help but share an A+ response. You can check out the actor’s work on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier by streaming it on Disney+, which you can sign up for using this link.
Now that Anthony Mackie has a few wins under his belt, it’ll be interesting to see when and how Tom Holland chooses to respond. With Spider-Man: No Way Home on the horizon, there’s a chance he could use that as an opportunity to one-up his occasional co-star. And if even half of the rumors surrounding that movie turn out to be true, Holland will have some serious leverage.
