The 10 Best Harley Quinn Lines In The Suicide Squad, Because Margot Robbie Stole The Show Again
SPOILERS are ahead for The Suicide Squad, now playing in theaters and streaming on HBO Max.
The last time a Suicide Squad movie hit theaters back in 2016, we fell hard for Margot Robbie absolutely nailing her take on Harley Quinn. After a hop through the character’s big breakup aftermath in Birds of Prey, the character is already back for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, and even against a ton of fun character introductions like John Cena’s Peacemaker and Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, Robbie had the most scene-stealing lines.
In between contemplations about dip dye hair and wondering where Bruce the Hyena is now, let’s talk about Harley Quinn’s most quotable lines in James Gunn’s latest superhero film. One thing’s for sure, Margot Robbie’s DCEU anti-hero is incredibly iconic.
“Hi, Guys! Sorry I’m Late, I Had To Go Number Two!”
We knew we were in for an interesting ride when Harley Quinn was reintroduced in The Suicide Squad by announcing her bathroom habits to an aircraft carrier full of Task Force X members at the beginning of the movie. Harley Quinn isn’t exactly a tight-lipped character, and her introduction is a little TMI, but it's honestly perfect.
"TDK Is The Detachable Kid? What The Fuck?"
Also in the first few minutes of The Suicide Squad, when we’re still getting our bearings on what we’re in for, Harley Quinn channels the audiences in a wonderful way when she commentates on the hilarious villains on the mission with them. As Nathan Fillion’s TDK does his thing (right before being killed off), she gets the what-the-fuck of it all out of the way. It helps to hear Harley is also weirded out by the whole concept like we are.
“I Will Kill Every Last One Of You Corto-Maltesios, Maltezels? ...Whatever You Heartracing D-Bags Are Called!”
While being stuck in a pit after being caught by the target of the Suicide Squad's mission, Margot Robbie gets worked up about being captured. She threatens them in a funny moment where she can’t quite place what you call people who reside in Corto Maltese. Later on in the film, Silvio Luna answered her question by calling them Corto Malteseans. It’s a small moment, but one we chuckled at.
“If You Mismatch Blacks, You Die.”
When back with the Suicide Squad and questioning Peter Capaldi’s Thinker for information, Harley Quinn, Rick Flag and Bloodsport take turns being intimidating, and Harley’s version of it is amazing. She goes out of left field to tell him that if he has “personalized license plates,” mismatches blacks or coughs without covering his mouth, he’s totally dead. Rick Flag hilariously has to stop Harley as she gets too much off of the subject.

“I Love The Rain. It’s Like Angels Are Splooging All Over Us.”
As the Suicide Squad enters the Corto Maltesian city where all the third act giant starfish shenanigans take place, they enter a rainy day. It allows for Harley Quinn to pause and admire the rain, sharing how much she loves that type of weather because it’s like angels are “splooging” all over them. It’s a sweet Harley moment, and we’ll be remembering this line the next time we’re around rain for sure.
“You Were Gonna Save Me? I Can Go Back Inside And You Can Still Do It.”
This was a Harley quote the first The Suicide Squad trailer primed us with, and it’s one of the best moments in the film for the character. After we go through this extensive breakout scene with Margot Robbie’s DC character, she’s ready to go back just to please them. But the truth is, it shows how badass Harley is because of all the work she was able to do on her own to basically free herself from a dictatorship’s arms. Harley can definitely hold her own, but she enjoys the company.
“I Could Be Your Friend, Milton.”
At the end of The Suicide Squad, there’s a hilarious bit when the driver the team picked up along the way, Milton, dies in a shootout, and Harley and Bloodsport have no idea who he is. Polka-Dot Man gets upset that they didn’t notice him as they discuss Milton. And after they take down Starro, Harley calls Bloodsport “Milton” in a sweet moment where she says she can be the sharp-shooter’s friend.
“I Think You’re More Pretty Like This, With All Those Rotten Thoughts Empty From Your Head.”
The last few quotes come from the same scene in The Suicide Squad, when Harley Quinn kills off Silvio Luna after getting down and dirty with him and accepting his wedding proposal. In the moment before his heart stops beating, Quinn gives a great monologue. In the middle of it, she commends the “absolutely beautiful monster between your legs,” but admits she likes him better without being such a violent and cruel man.
“When Your Taste In Men Is As Bad As Mine, They Don’t Just Go Away Quietly.”
Harley Quinn still has some scars left from dating Jared Leto’s Joker, and it’s apparent to her in this scene that she is still dealing with it. For now, she channels it through murdering the quick fling because she realizes how problematic he is and she worries about the loose ends of having another powerful ex.
“I Made A Promise To Myself That The Next Time I Got A Boyfriend I’d Be On The Lookout For Red Flags And If I Saw Anything I’d Do The Healthy Thing And Murder Him.”
Now, it’s not exactly clear if Harley had planned to kill off Silvio the whole time and was putting on a bit of a show as she speaks to him, or if it’s really in the moment, but the best line to come from Harley is when she calls the “healthy” thing murdering him. Harley has learned from her past relationship, but she’s still very much Harley. With some flawed reasoning, which is plain fun to watch in the DCEU.
According to Margot Robbie, there's more Harley Quinn to come someday. Until then, we'll continue to adore princess Harley in James Gunn's version of the character.
