The DC Extended Universe is constantly expanding. And with The Suicide Squad now in theaters, the fans are already looking forward to future projects coming down the line. Chief among them is James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will feature Amber Heard reprising her role as Mera. Heard shared an awesome training video for Aquaman 2, but does Mera have a new weapon in the sequel?
James Wan is back behind the camera for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, with various members of the cast posting from the mysterious set. This includes Amber Heard, who has been sharing clips and photos of her training hard to play Mera again. Now we can see a video of her doing some dizzying fight choreo, possibly teasing her character’s new weapon in the process. Check it out below,
I mean, how cool is that? Amber Heard is definitely working hard on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, even before stepping in front of the camera. The first movie featured some unique action sequences, and it seems like the sequel will continue that tradition. Let’s break down what we’re being shown here.
This above video comes to us from Amber Heard’s personal Twitter account, where she’s often sharing tidbits about her time in the DC Extended Universe as Mera. Heard has seemingly been spending a ton of time in the training room shown above, as previously updates have shown her looking thoroughly exhausted on the same blue floor. We’ll just have to see how awesome the fights of Aquaman 2 ultimately end up being once it hits theaters.

In the clip above, you can see Amber Heard training with a large staff, rehearsing fight choreography and disarming her opponent/trainer in the process. And after achieving that combo of badass moves, Heard also does a dance of victory. But I’m more interested in what type of weapon Mera might get in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
The most obvious choice would obviously be for James Wan to give Mera her own trident in Aquaman 2. That is the signature weapon of Atlanteans, although Amber Heard’s character mostly battles with her hydrokinetic abilities. Fans might be especially eager to see Mera with a trident following her appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Prior to filming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Amber Heard played her role as Mera for Zack Snyder’s Justice League reshoots. In the Knightmare sequence Mera does indeed have a trident, and vows revenge on a villainous Superman for the death of Aquaman. It was an intriguing coda to the streaming project, resulting in fans hoping that Warner Bros. will #RestoreTheSnyderVerse.
