What two famously feuding actors have action movies out this month that aren't Marvel-related? Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman! Sadly, it’s not that Wolverine/Deadpool road trip movie that almost happened, but the two talented men are part of some really exciting original films this summer. Amidst Jackman’s upcoming film Reminiscence, he is leaving his beef with Reynolds behind to hype up Free Guy.
Hugh Jackman has been busy as of late promoting Reminiscence ahead of the film coming to theaters and HBO Max this weekend. But in between doing press for the film about accessing lost memories, the actor took to social media to share a sweet message about Ryan Reynolds' latest movie following its first weekend at the box office.
Hugh Jackman contributed to the love for Free Guy by congratulating Ryan Reynolds for his success on the movie based on an original IP. Over the weekend, Free Guy surprised at the box office by surpassing expectations with a $28 million domestic opening despite projections expecting it lower amidst the delta variant bringing less and less people to theaters lately.
It’s sweet to see Hugh Jackman root for his former co-star as the Logan actor's upcoming film braves the box office this weekend, along with being available on streaming. If you want to skip theaters, you can check out Reminiscence on HBO Max, which can be signed up for using this link.
The two films will be competing this upcoming weekend, so Hugh Jackman did not need to give Free Guy extra press. But given that he has a cameo in the movie, along with fellow Marvel actor Chris Evans, Jackman is certainly balancing being an excellent friend with doing business as his film Reminiscence continues to do press.
Free Guy is a bit of a dark horse of a summer release because it’s a brand-new property and because it’s getting a 45-day exclusive theatrical window at a time when many major films are getting theatrical and streaming releases on the same day or within two weeks. Thankfully, that release model worked for Free Guy considering the movie is already expected to get a sequel.

Free Guy is about a bank teller named Guy who finds out he’s a non-player character in an open world video game. Reminiscence is about a private investigator of the mind who navigates the world of the past with Rebecca Ferguson’s Mae, who becomes his obsession. These are two incredibly different films, but it'll be exciting to see both movies duke it out this weekend. Perhaps it may inspire more faux feud content from the hilarious actors?
