Here’s something about the Twilight saga we don’t talk about nearly enough: Rami Malek was in it. The Oscar winner known best for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, along with his critically-acclaimed TV role in Mr. Robot, once played a vampire named Benjamin in the final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn Part 2. Nearly a decade later, he attended the same star-studded party as Kristen Stewart. What an odd Twilight reunion!
Both Rami Malek and Kristen Stewart were part of celebrating Taika Waititi's 46th birthday this week. The director behind Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok had a private party with his singer girlfriend Rita Ora, and the two Twilight stars happened to be involved. Did you know Kristen Stewart and Rami Malek were tight with Taika Waititi? Yeah, me neither, but it’s great to see the actors having a blast with the New Zealand-born filmmaker and actor. Ora did not share a picture of Stewart and Malek together, but we imagine the pair running into each other by the snack and wine table and reminiscing about that time they got to play vampires together for the final Twilight film.
Rami Malek was not a household name when he put on those red contacts as a member of the Egyptian coven that helps the Cullens fight the Volturi in the final installment. He had starred in the Night at the Museum movies with Owen Wilson, Robin Williams and Ben Stiller as the Egyptian pharaoh Ahkmenrah. Kristen Stewart was, of course, a big star as the face of the Twilight franchise, and these days they both have even more exciting careers and apparently party in mutual circles.
Also among Taika Waititi’s pictured guests were actors Kate Beckinsale, Paris Jackson, Jodie Turner Smith, Ashley Benson and pop singer Charli XCX. It looks like the couple paired their friends from the Hollywood and music world as the house party celebrated Waititi’s birthday.
Taika Waititi and Rita Ora have been seen together throughout the year, most memorably doing some PDA with Tessa Thompson, which had the internet theorizing they were in a throuple. Waititi has spent 2021 filming Thor: Love and Thunder with Chris Hemsworth and an incredibly stacked cast that includes Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe.
Taika Waititi currently stars in Free Guy with Ryan Reynolds, which is currently playing in theaters. The filmmaker is also developing a Star Wars movie among other projects, making him a particularly great person for an actor to be friends with right about now. We’d love to see more of Waititi, Kristen Stewart and Rami Malek, but for now we’ll settle for this mini-reunion that brought together two majorly talented Twilight stars.
