Our Idiot Brother Star Matthew Mindler Found Dead At 19 After Going Missing At College
Matthew Mindler, a former child actor who most notably appeared in the 2011 Paul Rudd comedy vehicle Our Idiot Brother is dead at 19. The star was a first-year student of Millersville University in Millersville Pennsylvania when he went missing last week. A search had been undergone, but Millersville University President Daniel A. Wubah, Ph.D. revealed in a letter to students, staff, and parents that the young man had been found dead over the weekend, though only a few details have been revealed regarding what happened.
On Thursday of last week, Matthew Mindler, originally from Hellertown, PA, was reported as missing, also by the University. A missing person's bulletin had been posted online and a search had been undergone to find the young man. There was concern after he didn’t return to his room or return calls from his family earlier in the week. Ultimately, University Police started looking around and later a National Missing Persons report was filed.
That report also mentioned he had attended classes early during the week, but had skipped Wednesday and Thursday before he was reported missing. The last time Matthew Mindler was seen he had been walking from his residence hall to a parking lot called Centennial Parking lot. He was seen on security cameras doing that on Tuesday evening at 8:11 p.m. and had been wearing a Millersville University hoodie and carrying a black backpack at the time he went missing. A post on the University's page indicates move-in day on campus had just occurred one week ago and this week marked the first week of classes.
On Saturday, Millersville University’s Daniel A. Wubah said that the student had been found, but unfortunately not under positive circumstances. Mindler was found dead in Township Manor, which the University reports is near the campus where he went missing. There is currently an investigation from the coroner being undergone into the circumstances surrounding his death. The University President went on to call it a “time of grief” for those on campus.
Matthew Mindler was in the spotlight for a short time, popping up in the long-running soap opera As The World Turns and the 2010 film Bereavement before landing his biggest role in Our Idiot Brother. Along with Paul Rudd and Mindler, the 2011 film also stars Zooey Deschanel, Elizabeth Banks, Steve Coogan, Emily Mortimer, Rashida Jones and more.

Our thoughts go out to those who knew Matthew Mindler, including his mother, who reports indicate had been working with University Police through the process of searching for and finding Matt.
