We have a lot of new movies to discuss on the show this week, which works, because there wasn't much news on this slower-than-usual holiday week.
The theaters are packed with new releases, so the guys dove into Robin Hood, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and the anticipated Creed II. Basically, if you are headed to the movie theaters this holiday week, there are options for basically every audience.
But the guys spent the bulk of the episode discussing Green Book, a movie that's falling into a pattern established by a number of Oscar contenders this season. Namely, they open with a LOT of pre-release buzz, but then they underperform.
Green Book did OK in its opening frame (in only 25 theaters), but it needs a real push if it's going to earn money and contend in the awards race. Can it catch on? Should it? The guys discuss, at length.
Before they took off for the holiday weekend, ReelBlend co-hosts Jake Hamilton, Kevin McCarthy and Sean O'Connell played a game of #FoxxBlend, where they picked their favorite Jamie Foxx roles (based on the fact that he steals scenes in Robin Hood). What's your favorite?
