Welcome to HeroBlend#35! The last major superhero releases of the year are finally out, so Eric and Adrienne will be talking in depth (and with spoilers) about Aquaman and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, with a bonus conversation about the somewhat surprising first Hellboy trailer! First, though, we're going to get into some hot news items for our last show of 2018, and, there's plenty to discuss. On the docket today are the rumors that James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 script is quite the tearjerker, John Mulaney's awesomely weird idea for an Into the Spider-Verse spinoff, why that film had to fight really hard to include one of its most important villains, what Todd McFarlane thinks of the people who trashed Venom, and a whole lot more!
Next, we'll jump into Hellboy. The first trailer for this rebooted, Guillermo Del Toro-less, tale of the Beast of the Apocalypse dropped this week and, many folks were a bit shocked when they saw what seems to be in store for us when the film opens on April 12, 2019. Eric and Adrienne will go over their general impressions, as well as their hopes for the film, why the trailer might be so different from what we were expecting and whether or not this might actually work.
Then, we'll get into the meat and potatoes of the podcast: Aquaman and Into the Spider-Verse spoilers! We'll discuss our favorite sequences and aspects of Aquaman, talk about the humor and (sometimes) slightly cheesy dialogue, go over specific spoilers about Black Manta, Atlanna and an important scene near the end of the film, as well as discussing that mid-credits scene and what it might mean for the sequel. Then, our Spider-Verse conversation will go over the big villain reveal, the tease at the end of the film, the very cool end credits scene and more!
