ReelBlend #56: Our Interview With Robert Rodriguez
ReelBlend has been lucky enough to land some special guests on the podcast in our short amount of time, from Ready Player One screenwriter Zak Penn to Roma director Alfonso Cuaron. We’re extending the streak in this week’s episode, as we have an exclusive chat with the legendary Robert Rodriguez, as he stopped by the pod to talk Alita: Battle Angel, Sin City, Desperado, From Dusk til Dawn, and more! You’re going to want to hear this one, so press play.
Because of the chat with Rodriguez, the guys also play #RobertRodriguezBlend in the weekly #Blend Game. Spoiler alert: All three hosts pick the same movie. Which one did they choose?
Before they dove in to the proper show, the guys ran through some key news items. The discussed the first look at Will Smith as the Genie in the live-action Aladdin. Then broke down the first trailer for Danny Boyle’s Yesterday, which looks charming as hell.
And then the guys got into the big topic of the week: The Academy’s decision to not air, live, the winners of four categories at the Oscars. Cinematography and Editing are two of the categories mentioned, and the guys had very strong opinions on it.
This week, Sean, Jake and Kevin also ran through quick reviews of the stacked weekend at the movies. They touched on Isn’t It Romantic, Alita: Battle Angel, Happy Death Day 2U and Fighting With My Family. Basically, this week, there’s something out there for everybody.
