Justin Timberlake Rules The Stage In Catchy New Netflix Music Special Trailer
Just try not to sing along! The first trailer for Justin Timberlake's upcoming concert documentary for Netflix is here, and it's jam-packed with soulful vocals and exuberant dance moves that are sure to make you rock your body... or at least snap along and bob your head as you watch it from your couch.
The trailer intersperses concert scenes with scenes of Timberlake getting ready for the performance backstage. Timberlake is seen on stage with his backing band The Tennessee Kids as he gets the crowd pumped with some shout and response warm-ups, then he launches into his hit single "Mirrors." As the entire arena sings and claps along to the song's final chorus, a close-up shot shows Timberlake getting a bit emotional, as he puts his hands on his head and smiles.
Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids will give viewers around the world a front row ticket to JT's 20/20 Experience World Tour. Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia) shot the final night of Timberlake's record-smashing tour last year, showcasing the sold-out performance at at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena in January of 2015. The film premiered earlier this month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The tour, which spanned a little over a year from the end of 2013 to the beginning of 2015, became one of the highest grossing tours of the decade, and made Justin Timberlake the highest grossing solo artist touring in 2014. The world tour followed Timberlake's two-times platinum selling double album The 20/20 Experience Part 1 and Part 2, featuring hit singles like "Mirrors" and "Take Back the Night."
The sound of Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience era harkened back to retro soul and the big band era. To help get that sound right, Timberlake introduced his band The Tennessee Kids in 2013 --- a huge orchestra of horn players, singers, guitarists, dancers, and more. Named after his home state, The Tennessee Kids became integral in helping Timberlake achieve the throwback soul sound of the double record.
Though Justin Timberlake took a little break from the limelight after his world tour ended in order to spend time with his wife Jessica Biel and their newborn son Silas, now the singer and actor is back in the swing of things. Over the summer, Timberlake released his new single "Can't Stop the Feeling!," which is from the soundtrack for the upcoming Dreamworks film Trolls that Timberlake curated. He also stars in the film itself opposite Anna Kendrick. And if that weren't enough, Timberlake has also been teasing a fifth studio album that he's working on.
Get ready to #TimberlakeandChill with Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids when it is available on Netflix on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
