So, Taylor Swift And Zayn Have A New Song And It's Already #1 On iTunes
Taylor Swift just made her long-awaited return to music, and she teamed up with Zayn Malik for the surprise song release! And given that Swift and Malik are two of the trendiest pop artists in the world right now, of course the sexy new single is already a chart-topping hit after just hours of being released. Check out a snippet of the sultry duet "I Don't Wanna Live Forever," which was recorded for the soundtrack of the upcoming movie Fifty Shades Darker, below.
Taylor Swift announced the song on Instagram late on Thursday night, and it was released on Apple Music shortly after. Though the track is only a few hours old, it has already shot to the top of iTunes' charts, as Swift noted in another Instagram post with a screenshot of the song in iTunes' number one song spot, and the caption "Well that escalated quickly."
The steamy, R&B-tinged track leans more into the Zayn Malik's realm of sensual, bedroom vocals, but Taylor Swift proves more than up to the task of bringing the heat in her seductively breathy verse. The single is noteworthy for Swift fans who have been waiting two years to hear new music from the artist. Many fans were expecting Swift to drop an album this fall, pointing to her pattern of releasing each record in her discography in the autumn of even-numbered years, but as 2016 was drawing to a close, many had given up on getting new Swift music this year. It may not be an album, but at least now the diehard Taylor Swift fans have a new song to add to their music libraries.
And it's no wonder that A-listers like Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik would want to get in on the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack after the impressive performance of the first film's soundtrack. The Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack catapulted The Weeknd into superstardom by featuring his song "Earned It" as its lead single. That song went on to earn The Weeknd a Grammy and even an Academy Award nomination. The soundtrack went on to become one of the bestselling records of 2015. Let's see if the addition of Swift and Malik can surpass that success with round two.
