Lady Gaga's Awesome Response To People Trying To Body Shame Her
It was pretty much impossible to find anything about Lady Gaga's high-flying Super Bowl Halftime Show performance to dislike, but the haters still found a way. After some folks started to make fun of Lady Gaga's stomach during the final portion of her performance, the singer responded by letting them know just how much she doesn't care about their opinion of her.
Late on Tuesday night, Lady Gaga posted a response to the body shamers on her Instagram account, writing that she's proud of her body no matter what her detractors may say about it, and encouraging her fans to embrace their bodies as well.
Lady Gaga posted the note alongside a picture of herself in the outfit that the body shamers were targeting, noting that a bit of her stomach was sticking out over her sequined shorts. Check out the post below.
You tell 'em, Gaga! The body shaming began during the final portion of Lady Gaga's Halftime Show performance, when her background dancers ripped off her tear-away jacket to reveal the singer donning a pair of sequined shoulder pads. As Glamour reported, a few people on Twitter honed in on the bit of belly fat that was visible, and proceeded to make jokes about her "muffin top" or "pudge." Several of Gaga's fans, who are famously active on Twitter, noticed the body shaming and fired back.
Of course, as with pretty much every Super Bowl Halftime Show, people are just looking for the next big controversy on par with Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction or M.I.A. flipping off the cameras. Since Lady Gaga just gave an awesome performance and didn't really do anything to cause any controversy, the drama-hungry had to go hunting for something to get riled up about. Some people were even suggesting there might be a feud between Lady Gaga and the singer P!nk due to Gaga's use of aerial stunts in her performance --- a shtick that P!nk is best known for in her live performances. Obviously, that feud theory was ridiculous, but P!nk still posted a note on Instagram to show her support for Gaga amidst the speculation.
In the end, Lady Gaga gave all the viewers a spectacular concert and looked amazing --- why can't everyone just enjoy the performance without trying to shame her?
