Mandy Moore Just Posted An Epic Throwback Photo With Justin Timberlake And We Can't Get Enough
This month, actress and singer-songwriter Mandy Moore posted a throwback Instagram photo of herself standing in front of a tour minivan (yes, we said "tour minivan," not "tour bus") from her early days on the road to promote her first single, "Candy." In the caption for that photo, Moore explained that she had inherited a bunch of old photos from her parents when a flood at their house forced them to get rid of things. To our delight, Moore has been sharing throwback photos since then, and the latest memory takes the cake. We promise it will make you smile (and possibly feel old). Check out the photo below of Mandy Moore with her early-career tour buddy, Justin Timberlake:
Mandy Moore posted the photo to her Instagram, which she fills with personal snapshots of her beautiful, bohemian life in Hollywood. Yes, the fashion happening in the photo seems dated today. It contrasts the tuxedos and casual-Friday street style we now associate with Justin Timberlake, and Moore's outfit looks much different from her current red-carpet gowns and boho-chic everyday outfits. Still, these looks would have been rock solid for 1999. Moore has always been on the slightly daring side of trends, and her style evolution has been impressive. Even back in the early 2000s, Moore went brunette while her contemporaries Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson remained blonde, and eventually, she chopped off that hairstyle for an Audrey Hepburn inspired pixie cut that nobody saw coming.
We love the slightly dated look. Everything from the bucket hat to the Abercrombie and Fitch shirt to Mandy Moore's "natural" blonde hair in a ponytail is perfect about this picture. Even the setting is great because it appears to be an outdoor amphitheater, which would make sense because Moore opened for NSYNC on their amphitheater tour from 18 years ago. (18 years? Gulp.) In the caption of the Instagram photo by the tour minivan, Moore explained her amusing recollection of opening for NSYNC on that tour.
These days, the multitalented singer and actress is killing it on This Is Us, which earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture for TV. It seemed like the road got tough for Moore between Tangled and This Is Us. She got divorced. She worked on a streak of unsuccessful TV pilots. So, it is great to see Mandy Moore find success while working on her acting chops. We love how Moore in senior-citizen makeup looks like Diane Keaton, who played her mom in Because I Said So. We love that the show gives her a chance to sing a little -- as if we needed a reminder about how much we miss her music and voice.
A stroll down memory lane with Mandy Moore is always a walk to remember, so if we could talk to her, we would say, "Walk Me Home." Mandy, keep posting these adorable throwback photos. Also, for selfish reasons, we would suggest that, in between her busy schedule with This Is Us, she should do the world a favor and crank out some new pop music. Her last full album came out in 2009, so it has been too long. What about "Crush"? What about "I Wanna Be With You"? Mandy, consider this your call to action. This throwback photo has us missing you (like candy. Sorry, we had to go there). And, we can't wait to see what's next.
