Serena Williams Is Pregnant With Her First Child

It looks like the stork is on the way for professional tennis superstar Serena Williams and her soon-to-be hubby. On Wednesday, April 19, Williams shocked her many followers on Snapchat with the news that she was twenty weeks pregnant with her first child. Williams took the photo with her phone in front of a mirror to show off her amazing physique and baby bump in a beautiful yellow one-piece bathing suit. Of course, the story is adorable because it means the 35-year-old athlete and her handsome fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, are going to become parents this year. At the same time, the revelation is astounding because, by doing some simple math, we now know Williams was pregnant when she won the Australian Open in January 2017.

This child will be the first for both Serena Williams and her entrepreneur fiancé. The New York Times indicated that Williams posted the photo of her baby bump to her Snapchat story, but it later got actively deleted for reasons unknown. Regardless, the moment people saw the exciting picture, they realized its moving meaning and sent her tons of love and well wishes. Of course, the most astonishing implication of the story is that Williams was pregnant when she won the Australian Open for the seventh time, defeating her sister Venus Williams and beating Steffi Graf's score for Grand Slam wins. It remains unclear whether Williams knew she was pregnant back then or not.

Now Serena Williams is set to join the ranks of other tennis pro moms, such as Victoria Azarenka, who stepped away from tennis last year to give birth to her son in June. The future is unclear for Williams' inspiring tennis career. However, she previously took time off for health matters and returned soon after, so only time will tell what she decides to do.
