Ariel Winter's Mother Thinks Her Daughter Should Keep Her Clothes On
Ariel Winter of Modern Family fame has been pushing boundaries with racy photos and posts on social media over the past few years. Now the 19-year-old actress's estranged mother, Chrystal Workman, has weighed in about Winter's online look. From the sounds of it, Workman is not pleased. In fact, in an interview, Workman expressed sharp words for her daughter when she said,
Aspects of this statement might seem okay for a mother to say to her child behind closed doors. But the problem here, it seems, is Chrystal Workman is estranged from her daughter, and revealed her feelings to a reporter from In Touch. Apparently, Ariel Winter found her mother's move to be in poor taste, so TV star took to social media to respond, tweeting,
Chrystal Workman has not been the only person questioning the outfits Winter chooses to wear. For example, when Winter attended an event for Modern Family last month, some people criticized her decision to wear a barely-there dress that stood out from the sensible, business-casual fashion choices of her colleagues. However, the young star responded to that controversy and explained she should be allowed to wear whatever she wants, and it is her business if she posts pictures like this one:
Or this one:
Ariel Winter and her mother have been on bad terms for a few years now. Back in 2012, Winter's sister, Shanelle Workman, filed to become Winter's official legal guardian. Winter claimed her mother abused her verbally, deprived her of food, made fun of her weight, and tried to sexualize her image from a young age. Jimmy Workman, Winter's older brother (who played Pugsley Addams in The Addams Family), said his sisters were lying. However, about two years later, the court granted the request and removed Winter from Chrystal Workman's guardianship. Although Chrystal Workman later released a statement about how the family had moved on from conflicts, Winter announced in 2015 that she had emancipated herself from her mother.
Workman makes a good point in her assertion that Winter is talented and does not need to rely on sexy looks to be a star. Winter also makes a valid point when she says her mother should not be addressing her concerns via tabloids. Hopefully, the two can work out their differences in the future.
