Kim Kardashian's Surrogate Is Reportedly Pregnant
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reportedly are on their way to welcoming baby number three. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians celebrity and her Grammy Award-winning husband supposedly followed through with their plans to hire a surrogate mother to help them have another child. Now they apparently are three months into a surrogacy journey. This exciting development implies the Wests could have their new son or daughter as early as January.
As Us Weekly tells it, the surrogate mother Kim Kardashian and Kanye West hired is a twentysomething mom from San Diego, California, and a surrogacy agency referred her to the Wests. Not only is the young woman a mom of her own children, but she also has offered her services as a surrogate mother to others in the past. In fact, she purportedly is such an advocate for surrogacy that she appeared with her family in a video promoting the service.
On the most recent season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian revealed her desire to add a third child to her growing family. Initially, the 36-year-old reality television personality's famous family members worried about the news because of the complications she experienced during her previous pregnancies. When Kim Kardashian was pregnant with her four-year-old daughter, North West, she had early-onset preeclampsia and placenta accreta. Similar symptoms appeared again during her second pregnancy with her two-year-old son, Saint West.
After the birth of Saint West, Kim Kardashian needed surgery to repair her uterus, and her doctor said she could never carry children again. So, she and her 40-year-old rapper spouse began exploring the idea of hiring a surrogate mother. Her famous sisters, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, expressed interest in being the surrogate mother, but the Wests apparently opted to ask for help from professionals who know exactly what they are doing.
When the Wests reportedly began exploring surrogacy options in earnest, reports surfaced that they would pay around $113,000 for the package. Estimates said ten payments of $4,500 would go to the surrogate mother, while an additional $68,000 would go to the surrogacy agency. Now, there are mixed reports about this figure, and some estimates place the total cost around $70,000. Either way, it sounds like the Wests are not getting a celebrity discount.
The agreement with the surrogate mother apparently includes a lot of normal stipulations about not drinking, smoking, eating certain foods, handling kitty litter, spending time in hot tubs, and so on. Reportedly, the contract also contains benefits for the surrogate mother. For example, if the pregnancy results in a second child, she could receive a bonus of $5,000, and that is just an estimated number based on standard surrogacy contracts.
But let's be real. With Kim Kardashian and Kanye West as the intended parents, who knows what kind of excellent bonuses the surrogate mother and her family might receive? Now that the Wests are joining the growing list of celebrities utilizing surrogacy services, here's hoping the experience is free of complications.
