Meghan Markle Has Already Spoken Out About Her Dream Wedding Dress
One of the most exciting things to consider regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming May 2018 wedding is what dress Markle will choose. Luckily, we have some ideas thanks to statements the 36-year-old actress has already given. A while back she talked about her Suits character, Rachel Zane, getting married on the show. Markle spoke about her potential wedding dress, saying:
As mentioned, the insight Meghan Markle gave about the type of wedding dress she would consider wearing came from an interview about the marriage of Markle's fictional character on Suits. Markle put her skills as a smart fashionista to good use, and helped to find that particular dress for Rachel. Of course, several things might have changed since Markle sat down with Glamour back in 2016. Regardless, Markle comes across as a woman who knows herself and her fashion tastes inside and out. Thus, there is a good chance her dress will have a lot of her personality in it.
In fact, Meghan Markle said the wedding dress Rachel wore on Suits was good for the character, but did not reflect her own taste. Markle described herself as "a lot more relaxed than Rachel," which could be another indication that a lavish, fairy-tale style dress like Kate Middleton's or Princess Diana's might not be in the running.
When the interviewer asked Meghan Markle to share her "favorite celebrity wedding dress," Markle cited Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, which speaks volumes. When Bessette-Kennedy married John F. Kennedy, Jr. in September 1996, she wore a pearl-white dress made of crepe. The dress was by Cerutti, and the designer behind it was Narciso Rodriguez, who was nowhere near as famous as he is today.
Perhaps these ideas give us clues about Meghan Markle's preferences. Maybe she will choose a unique cut and textile, as Bessette-Kennedy did. Similarly, she might go with a designer who is not quite a star, but could be with help from her. Why not? Tons of celebs promote their favorite designers. For example, Brandon Maxwell gets love from Lady Gaga, and Christian Siriano receives love from, well, a lot of stars nowadays, including Saturday Night Live's Leslie Jones. Markle might also have to consider if the dress is from the UK, the US, or another location entirely.
Also, the wedding dress Meghan Markle chose for her first wedding was a strapless gown with a sparkly metallic belt. The gown had a Grecian goddess look about it, but I bet she probably will not go with a dress at all like that this time.
Based on what we know about Meghan Markle, there is a chance that she could choose a wedding dress that will turn the fashion world on its head. Imagine for a moment, how incredible it will be to see the dress selected by Markle--the bold, American, divorcee who used to work at the US Embassy in Argentina and never does anything the way people tell her. It is going to be thrilling to see the dress when Meghan Markle debuts it in May-- we'll be here to give all of the details.
