2013 Oscars Red Carpet: Check Out The Daring And The Boring Fashion Choices
The Academy Awards might be the biggest day of the year for movies, but they’re also the biggest day of the year for red carpet fashion. From elegant gowns to daring one of a kind creations, nominees and presenters wear thousands of dollars worth of gowns and millions of dollars worth of jewelry. This year was no exception. Many Hollywood favorites trotted in front of the cameras with head-turners, both in positive and negative ways.
Luckily for everyone who wasn’t able to watch, or those who did and want a second peek, photographs from this evening’s red carpet are already making the rounds, and we were able to get our hands on some of them thanks to the fine people over at ABC. You can take a look at Anne Hathaway’s outfit below…
Most nominees decide on their dress weeks or even months ahead of time, but Hathaway actually decided to make a switch three hours before the big event. The organizers didn’t even know who she was wearing because the sheet they get ahead of time was wrong. Unfortunately, I don’t really think she made the right choice. The top half with the open back and the straps and the side cutout looks a little too much like an apron, and the color is off-putting.
Luckily for Hathaway, fashion is pretty subjective. Viewers have been arguing about her fashion choice since she first appeared on the red carpet, and the same has been happening for other daring choices like Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence.
You can take a look at many of the dresses in the gallery below and make up your own mind as to whether they're fabulous, forgettable hideous…
