Why Justin Bieber Is Skipping The Grammys
Its award season, which can be a particularly exciting time for avid TV fans. Each event brings the rich and the famous onto the small screen, dressed to the nines and getting appropriately sauced. And while CinemaBlend may be more focused on the impending Oscars, the Grammy Awards are just a few days away. The music industry will gather in one room on January 28th for the 60th annual Grammy Awards, and it'll no doubt be a night full of exciting live performances. But there is one major singer won't be in attendance: Justin Bieber. Now we may know why.
It turns out that Justin Bieber won't be attending the Grammys or any other music event until he completed his forthcoming new album. Bieber hasn't been publicizing or speaking about the writing process for what will be studio album number five, so that's some exciting news. It'll be interesting to see where the 23 year old goes with his new music, and how it continue developing as he ages and (presumably) matures.
News of Justin Bieber's disinterest in the Grammys (which comes to us from TMZ) is sure to be shocking for many. Because while Bieber doesn't have any albums in the running to take home a statue, he's featured in one of the nominated songs for Song of The Year. Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee are nominated in a three categories for "Despacito" which includes vocals by the Biebs himself. And in addition to not performing on the show, Bieber won't even sit in the audience this year to support his collaborators.
This isn't the first time that Justin Bieber has skipped out on the Grammys. He'd previously stated that the awards didn't really matter, and the event wasn't something he wanted to be apart of. But we'll just have to wait and see if that changes once he has a new album to promote.
Justin Bieber not performing "Despacito" may also not come to a surprise if you've been following the young star's ups and downs in the public eye. Months ago he was recorded flubbing through his verse of the song, making it clear he didn't actually know any of the lyrics he'd recorded. Furthermore, his improvisation of the lines was deemed as offensive, as he inserted words like "Dorito" into the Spanish lyrics. You can check out the video below.
Yikes. Suddenly, it all makes sense why Justin Bieber won't be performing alongside Daddy Yankee at this year's Grammys. He simply doesn't know the words to the song.
You can catch the 60th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday, January 28th. This time, with 100 percent less Bieber.
