Bristol Palin Is Splitting From Husband Dakota Meyer
Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer are no longer an item. The 27-year-old daughter of the Alaskan governor and former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and her husband since 2016 have officially split up, with Bristol currently living apart from Meyer at this time. This is not the first time they've split up, but it is the first time they've been separated since getting married. Read more details about the separation below.
The break-up, first reported by TMZ, was disclosed by those close to the former couple. They don't live under the same roof anymore, and People confirms that Meyer officially filed for divorce. The husband reportedly moved out of their Austin, TX home around Christmas time and he submitted the divorce paperwork roughly two weeks ago. Adding fuel to the fire, the young, recently single pair no longer follows each other on Instagram, a platform used fairly regularly by both. Neither Bristol nor Dakota has commented on their separation publicly at this time.
Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer eloped secretly back in June 2016. They've shared an on-and-off relationship for years, with the couple breaking up back in May 2015. It was just two months after they were engaged and a mere five days before they were set to wed. They share two daughters together, two-year-old Sailor Grace and nine-month-old Atlee Bay. Palin also shares another child, 9-year-old Tripp, with ex Levi Johnston. Tripp is the child Bristol was infamously pregnant with as a teenager during her mother's 2008 presidential run. Here's what Bristol and Dakota told Entertainment Tonight back in 2016 when they were first married.
Also, the former reality television star is no longer wearing her wedding ring from her former 29-year-old husband, nor is he. That can be seen in their last seen family photo, which was shared by Dakota last month, with the caption, "What matters."
With that in mind, it isn't yet known how Bristol and Dakota are going to handle custody or visitation with their children, and it's evident that the couple did not split up on happy terms. Of course, this announcement isn't the kind you'd like to release on Valentine's Day, of all days.
While Bristol Plain isn't commenting on the state of her marriage to the public just yet, the mom nevertheless continues posting on her blog, which has remained active since two days ago. Her last article centered around a million dollar sock company from a man with Down Syndrome to spread happiness. Additionally, Bristol also keeps active on social media, where she most recently celebrated her mother's 54th birthday, while also thanking her for being her "voice of reason," "strongest supporter" and her "greatest friend."
