This is heavy! Recently, Michael J. Fox finally joined Instagram, and to celebrate the occasion, he brought along an old friend: Keifer Sutherland. The Back to the Future star provided a fun (and very silly) little throwback during a break from filming the second season of ABC's Designated Survivor. Take a look.
As the Instagram post highlights, Michael J. Fox and Keifer Sutherland have known each other for decades. Over thirty years, in fact. The actors previously worked together in the 1988 drama Bright Lights, Dark City, which was the final film from director James Bridges (Urban Cowboy). A publicity still from that movie appears to be the second photo in this post.
Now, Keifer Sutherland and Michael J. Fox have reunited thanks to the ABC drama series. Fox is slated to appear in a five-episode guest star appearance as Washington attorney Ethan West, who makes things for President Kirkman (Sutherland) a little difficult, to say the least. Thankfully, though, it's all fun and games and goofing around behind-the-scenes, based on this new post. Designated Survivor returned from its winter hiatus on February 28th. It'll continue to run new episodes through the rest of the month.
The upcoming guest star appearance is one of a handful of recent television appearances from Michael J. Fox. The actor/activist also recently guest starred as himself on Nightcap and the newest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, reuniting with Larry David after their fantastically memorable eighth season finale, "Larry vs. Michael J. Fox." He was also nominated for an Emmy in 2016 for reprising his role as Louis Canning in ABC's The Good Wife.
Beyond his acting efforts, Michael J. Fox also continues his work with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, a foundation that's dedicated to finding and developing the cure for Parkinson's disease and towards "ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today." Launched in 2000, Fox has spent nearly 20 years working towards bettering the lives of those with Parkinson's disease. In the process, they've funded over $750 million in research programs, and the foundation continues to be going strong in 2018.
In addition to the recent credits listed above, Michael J. Fox also provided his voice for the titular canine character in A.R.C.H.I.E. in 2016. The sequel A.R.C.H.I.E. 2 is slated to come out sometime this year. Speaking of voice work, Fox also recently reprised his roles as Marty McFly and Willie McFly in 2015's Back to the Future: The Game - 30th Anniversary Edition. He also did the same for another video game, Lego Dimensions, that very same year. No matter what, we're always happy to see Michael J. Fox. Hopefully, the arrival of his Instagram means we only get to see more of him in the future.
