Ever since their time on Dawson's Creek, Busy Phillips and Michelle Williams have been the closest of BFFs. They attend the Oscars together. They share the cover of Entertainment Weekly together. Both actresses star in the new comedy, I Feel Pretty, arriving in theaters this weekend. Phillips and Williams have been through it all, and Busy is even willing to get into a bar fight for her best friend if the moment calls for it. And that's exactly what (almost) happened, as Busy Phillips recounts on The Late Late Show with James Corden. When someone tried to talk trash on sweet Michelle Williams when they were in their early '20s, Phillips claims she was ready to take the issue outside in Williams' honor. Here's how Busy Phillips recounted the situation on the late night talk show.
Michelle and I were at a bar one night, and this girl kinda was a little drunk, and accused Michelle of being really rude to her on a flight. Michelle Williams is my best friend for many, many years. She has never been rude to anyone ever. She is the sweetest, kindest, most loving human. If it had been me she'd accused, I would have been like, 'That kinda tracks,' but she accused Michelle of being rude, and I was just like, 'I will not stand for this.'
As Busy Phillips explains in the talk show clip, she was a pretty wild girl. She's thankful gossip sites like TMZ weren't around, because Phillips believes she would've been "TMZ-ed out of Hollywood" if the Internet was what it is today. As a result, Busy Phillips was more prone to wild behavior, and she even had the nose ring to prove it. As she explained, when you messed with the bull, you got the bull nose ring. While it was hidden inside Busy's nose when she was acting, it came out when people like this drunken individual messed with her BFF, Michelle Williams. Here's how Phillips explained it.
I had my nose pierced, you know in the middle, like a bull, at the time, in my early 20s, which people didn't know. And I would hide it when I was doing my acting jobs. And so I flipped my nose ring down and was like... 'Should we take this outside?'... When I wanted to kick someone's butt at the bar, I would [flip it out] and be like, 'What's up?' Don't let this blonde hair fool you. I'll take you down!
