Watch Adam Lambert's Cher Kennedy Center Honors Tribute Make Cher Cry

Earlier this year, the annual Kennedy Center Honors paid tribute to the musical accomplishments of multiple award-winning musician/actress Cher. The telecast, which made its way onto the air last night, featured a number of highs. Among them was Adam Lambert performing a rendition of Cher's 1998 hit single, "Believe," which was so powerful to Cher that it moved her to tears. Introduced by Cher's Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again co-star Amanda Seyfried, Adam Lambert is soon seen performing a soulful take on the heartfelt single during the night's top honors. That clear emotion and passion got to Cher, who can be seen wiping away tears during this musical performance. Lambert's take on the song, which spans about 4 minutes, is evidently a moving, touching tribute to the withstanding legacy of Cher's popular music.

While Cher doesn't appear to be particularly moved at first, she is seen in tears towards the tail-end of the music performance, when Adam Lambert is clearly giving it his all in an effort to provide Cher with the musical tribute that is fitting for the evening. The tears suggest that the musician did it well.

In addition to Cher, the Kennedy Center Honors also paid tribute to Reba McEntire, Wayne Shorter, Philip Glass, and the team behind the hit Broadway smash Hamilton, which includes Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, Andy Blankenbuehler and Alex Lacamoire, during the prestigious evening's honors.

While it is often Cher that is stirring emotions through her music, she became the beneficiary during this particular performance of "Believe" that night. And, when Adam Lambert finished his singing for the evening, Cher can be seen as one of the first people to stand up and applaud wildly for Lambert. That must be an incredible honor for Lambert -- not only getting the chance to pay tribute to Cher with her music but to receive such a great response.

It's not a small achievement to be recognized by the Kennedy Center Honors, and it seems Cher was very pleased by the tribute she got this evening. After several decades of providing music and performances over the years, she's due to receive high-standing recognition for her vast achievements. That evidently came during Adam Lambert's rendition of arguably the most famous song from Cher, which had quite an effect on the acclaimed star.

And, there were a good number of people watching at home on Wednesday too. According to The Wrap, the viewers had an uptick during this broadcast compared to last year. Perhaps the promise of Cher and Hamilton helped draw a few more eyes to the CBS telecast? It's hard to say definitively, but that likely played a part.
